45-70 carbine and 416 rigby kill my shoulder
My front hallway gun is Rem 870, 20 ga, with single 0 buck. It doubles as a collectible, chrome lifter and mint. I paid 250 at a gun show. I should have worn a mask.Yeah, that sounds awful. I've shot 00 buckshot out of my 1100 a couple times and that was plenty.
6-BR and here’s whyI’ve noticed over all these years of shooting.223 and 6BR, I’ve become quite spoiled with tolerating excessive recoil. I’m reminded quickly when I go to shoot my 308 or ‘06! Lol Those two are probably my limit these days for accurate shooting and enjoying longer strings of fire. What is your limit for recoil when shooting for fun?
That'll make you pee down your leg!Firing a handgun one handed bullseye style, I have not found a limit, this includes 50AE, TC 30-30 etc. For rifle I discovered that since shoulder surgery, the but-plate on my Ruger #1 in 45-70 aligns perfectly with one of the screws in my shoulder. So I limit myself to 10 or so mid power rounds, the rest are 300 cast, 14.5 of Trail Boss.
Slugs are far worst than 00 buck. But they are both bad.Yeah, that sounds awful. I've shot 00 buckshot out of my 1100 a couple times and that was plenty.

When your tired of your Japanese 1885 I’ll buy itThe 26-06 with 85gr is my upper limit, I THINK. I just restocked it and need to shoot it. Guess I'll find out if I can handle it. The 300WM and 270 is way, way back in the safe. I really like the little stuff 17 Hornady Hornet, 222 R and my favorite low recoil rifle 17HMR, no recoil, no reloading and just right for Sage Rats or gophers. I'm a little scared of the falling block (Japanese Win) with the curved but plate, so I bought a CZ 17HMR, just in case.
Murray,Well as you said @fatelvis you can get spoiled shooting lesser rounds. Today I went shooting taking my PPC and BR rifles. Great to shoot, but since moose season is only a couple months away I also took my 30/378 along to check the zero. I hunt with this rifle with no brake as the blast is just too much for my ears. Well the bad habits I got shooting the PPC's and BR's got straightening out very fast shooting this beast. This is the max most I can take for recoil ( 200 gr Part at 3275 ft/sec) and in all honesty probably too much. Just brutal.
I’ve owned both and shooting heavies there both bad buddy. I started shooting br in 09 by 2010 I chambered up a 6brx and haven’t enjoyed recoil since. But for elk hunting I still like the .300wm on up to the heavy .338’sGood God Wayne. Knowing what a 30/378 unbraked is like, I shiver at the thought of a 33/378
Maybe you just need a bigger screw6-BR and here’s why
