What is your favorite brass, and why?

Like most others here Lapua is my first choice. However, Lapua doesn’t cover all calibers so Norma works well in my 25/06 and ,204 Ruger. When I built my .22/250 last year the only brass I could find for it was Sig so I took a chance on 100 cases and I’m glad I did ( since then I’ve had Lapua on back order with Bruno’s ). For handgpuns and my 45/70’s it’s Starline all the way. Peterson is top notch stuff.

Surprised to see little or no, love shown for Alpha brass as of yet.

Currently I may go something like Alpha, Peterson Lapua & Starline in that order This is with 6mm ARC brass in mind as the 6mm ARC has been my favorite round for my use.

Why is Lapua this low on the list? Availability is a factor to be sure. Why isn't Hornady on the list? Yea if I went with my 5 preferred brass options, I am not sure if Hornady would even make the top 5 options.

Peterson for xc and 308

Adg, Remington, Norma. for saum

Lapua for br, but Peterson didn’t make it or I’d have gone for it. I’d trade.

I thought nosler was norma?

I’m glad lapua has been matched in many cases and adg/alpha/peterson are providing options.

When Nosler first came out I believe they were made by Norma and the quality of the first brass they put out depicted that it was of high quality. I first bought 7-08 and it was almost perfect then I bought some .308 and same thing, I was a huge fan. Since my .300 Lapua brass was getting long in the tooth and unobtainable for years I bought 3 boxes … the worse Remington or Hornaday I’ve ever seen was twice as good as those .300 wm Nosler prepped brass I bought!.. I threw all 300 cases in the brass bucket!… never loaded a single piece of it!.. had several people say you could have given it to me!… it’s like my Hornaday concentricity tool…. I don’t hate anyone bad enough to give it too… same with the brass. Well I wasn’t smart enough to end it there, the .308 brass I previously bought was excellent so I bought 5 boxes of premium prepped.308 brass OMG!…I didn’t throw it away but I loaded it with cheap military take down powder and Midway seconds for bullets and ejected them on the ground at the range where they remained.

New Winchester red and white bag with off center flash holes.

Second would be Lapua and Peterson. I don't want to like Lapua due to the availability, but I've found it to be the best.

I use mostly Rem and Win since I have a bunch.
If I get to rebarrel I will use Peterson because they are local.
I can respect that I try to buy local whenever I can. Fortunately for me there’s many high end gun and component companies where I live and within a couple hour drive. Idaho, Montana and some in Washington

Peterson has been making 6BR cases for years….
Good product and I sold off my Lapua brass… Going on 15-18 loads, no neck failure or loose primer pockets…

Yessir but I have not needed br brass for a greater number of years.

My first experience with Peterson was when they made a run of 7BR. Didn’t know when that would happen again so I bought 200. Given the outstanding quality I don’t think at age 73 that I’ll ever have to buy more. I’ve since used their 6BR that I bought when Lapua was unavailable. Great brass.

I use what I shoot.
Graf's Brass for the .25, 30, and .32 Remington. I have no idea who made it for them.
Winchester brass for 25-35 WCF and 348.

For handguns. If I had it to do over again, I would be using Starline Brass exclusively.

I suppose this is something of a poll. I've been reading a bit while the weather is bad and it's brought up a few questions. Brass cases, for one.

Just curious how some of you choose what you do and why.

Thanks for looking.
-I like Remington brass the best for factory brass
Nice consistent neck tension which is important for extreme accuracy
-Peterson Brass for custom, much better neck tension than Lapua which has wayyyy too much neck tension

Lapua has too much neck tension?…. Strange.
I’ve never seen that in any brass of any brand. I give it whatever neck tension I want it to have
