What has made group size shrink since the early 80's

Who's knowledge Mine hasn't changed an my gun shoot smaller.
So far you have show me how to spend $400 to $1600 .
Why would I want to change scopes what I have work fine . Won last week against 14 of the best shooters at the club. Better say 13 I took a total rookie . Be shot my old blue handycap Savage and finished 6 Larry
You have $1400 dollar NF BR scopes. I showed you how to save $1000 by buying a weaver and making weight. Of course your smarter. You werent shooting a dasher 10 years ago, you were not loading to the precision you are, you learned about tuners, exc.

Increase in knowledge and stiffer competition. The competition amongst the equipment suppliers (barrels, actions, etc) seems to be constantly improving the products we use. The competition on the firing line requires everyone to constantly refine their processes in order to be competitive.

Good Shooting

You sure did show us how to go from 18 to 20 shooter . To 7 Or less.
Not my idea of success .
Did I ever say I was shooting a dasher 10 years ago .
My savages we winning many of years before you ever shot the matches . Larry

Technology to all aspects.
- better manufacturing
- more manufactures, hence more choices
- advancement in equipment
- more information resources
Advancement, advancement, advancement,.....

On SH it seems to be it takes "doing my part" cause my gun will shoot in the 1's all day. So i think some group changes are internet related.:p

..... Some guys like to be the big fish in a little pond......
Alex -
So many little pond fish get lost in big waters, and is why they just stay in the little pond and gloat.
And is why there advancement is sluggish and behind.

Look how much and how fast you advanced when you got out of the little pond.
And remember how sluggish you would have advanced had you stayed.

I was lookin through the match results at ORG PENN 1000yd noticed the groups started gettin smaller in the mid to late 2000's like you just snapped your fingers, back in the day it was super if everyone shot under 10" in a relay, now it's 6" wonder when it will go 4, good sidebet would be heavy gun with best 5 of ten just to stir the pot, it use to be a dollar for X for sidebet I think

For me in the past 25 yrs in short range Benchrest it has been speed and experience. Speed? I started with a square bolt Stolle and standard Bald Eagle rest. Then later I got a windage top and speed screw. I now have a left port, right bolt and right eject Panda and a Farley compact top on my original Bald Eagle. I can throw down a lot more shots in the same condition than when I started. Experience? I'm still learning when to not shoot.

I believe there are more shooters shooting better rifles with better components. Not sure which of those three reasons would count the most.

Didn't a fat fish go to Williamsport and get fried?
This one didn't I had a great time and met a great group of shooter . Other then blowing a bullet apart on the first sting . I would done very respectfully . I had 8 10 shots in the 10 ring and one just out in the 9 And one on the ground around 100 yard away . I think it was the first bullet . I did learn we shoot in far greater condition then I seen there .
If all clubs treat shooters had as good as they did . Shooting would be fun .
Even with a non score on one bullet I ended mid pack .
I can say shooting gongs at our club is way harder. Larry

You can say shooting gongs is harder because you can say anything you want.
You would get my vote for gong & dirty bird hall of fame though!

Wh

What kind of shooting do yall do at your club?
You name it 3 gun cowboy action 5 stand marching gun shoots pistol Informal IBS type 600 and 1000 NRA f class vintage NRA
Had IBRSA 100 and 200 gong shoots at 600 and 1000 Gongs are 5" At 600 And 8" at 1000 The 1000 is tough because of the time between shot With no sighted between shot or rounds you sight in and your lasts shot can be a hour and a half later We have the making of a great club . But where we are located We lack the draw area of shooters .
for it to be anything more The a club shoot . Many think think competitive shooting is big but it's a fact less then 1%are competitive shooters .
Paper shooting has been tryed for years but never has been successful .
If you get a chance to come to Florida let me know . If you don't bring a gun I will let you shoot one mine . If you can stoop low enough to shoot a savage . lol Larry
