What happenned to Optics Planet?

I didn't see anything in the search function that actually addressed this question.

I always used to be able to order from optics planet And get shipping notification within a day or two.. like MIDWAY USA Or any number of other high volume excellent retailers.

Now optics planet takes days or even weeks to ship your order.... no exaggeration. They don't say this up front.They just take your order and take forever to ship.

Any idea what has happened to them? Do they have a warehouse anymore and keep items in start for quick shipping? What up ?
 
OP shows if the item is in stock or not. I have never had to wait over a week for anything I have ever ordered. Usually it is at my door in 2-3 days. If it is taking that long for you guys then you need to pay attention to what you are ordering. And I always get the faster shipping not the free shipping.

I quit OP decades ago over that behavior. You got lucky, just about no one else has had the good experiences you had.

Word of warning they own and run other online sales companies. Ecentria is the corp umbrella that OP and others are under. Campsaver is another one.

My last order from them showed the item in stock. Then a week later,my order said that it was still being processed. Stayed this way for a couple weeks then I called them. Then they said it was back ordered. It stayed back ordered for 2 months, then I canceled. If I remember correctly, they even took the money from the account and had to put it back in when I canceled
 
Same experience with Optics Planet. There was one order that showed as 'processing' for over a week.
Called. Was told is was shipping the next day. A week later, no change. Cancelled the order.

I haven't ordered from them in 3-5 years because of the way they handle orders.

Long time ago - 10 years? 15 years? - they seemed to be a 'normal' business that stocked the items they were selling.

Happened to me years ago, then they wont cancel your order and refund your credit card, instead they insist on issuing a credit. I contacted my credit card company and had them reverse the charge. Have bought ZERO from then since.
 
i've had nothing but good luck with them, yes sometimes the orders take longer than most but i've gotten some great deals on there. they are great on single order items because shipping is always free and there is always at least a 7% coupon code.
 
I’ve ordered from them several times in the past and had really good customer service experience once with a scope lost in delivery. Been a while though so I can’t attest to anything recent.
 
I have never had any problems with Optics Planet over several years.

Case in point:

I ordered two 500-bullet boxes, Berger 7mm 180 gr Hyb Tgt on August 29. And at $290 each I thought it was a good price.

I received the order on August 31. Two days.

Good enough!

I have never had a problem with OP, but they should be clearer about what is in stock and what is not. I have to be more careful with them as it is not always easy to see if a listed item is OOS.

I quit using them shortly after they started up. Ordered several Hornady neck bushings; got some of them pretty quickly. Then another one a month later. The last one stayed on backorder for over 9 months before they said the part was "unavailable" so they were cancelling the order, despite a call to them where they stated it was in stock and ready to ship.

I thought they were a spinoff of an online New York camera retailer. 42nd Street Photo, maybe?

If its true, its a shabby way to do business. I have a backorder with Starline for 38-55 long brass, BUT they tell me right up front its backordered.
