What Barrel Vice and Action Wrench to buy?

Another PMA Customer. I bought a Viper barrel vise and the PMA rear entry wrench for my Borden based Wheeler rifle. Both look great but I have yet to use them.

+1 I never met a Remington factory barrel that I couldn't remove with this combo - and a bit of Norskie muscle.

Yup. Good tools are nice to have when you need them and that’s when they pay for themselves but when I finally get a gun singing, that “switch barrel” idea goes in the trash can.
I do like having an extra barrel around when one of my “favorite guns” is toast. No waiting!

I use aluminum Vee blocks with lead sheeting and rosin in a Harbor Freight 20 ton hydraulic H-press. Barrels don't mar or slip. Rear entry wrench with lots of leverage will get the tight ones off. Of course I never tighten any of mine so that any cheaters are needed again. Never-seize on the replacements also. Nice also that I don't have to remove the scope base to swap.

I used the Viper barrel wrench and a Northland Shooter Supply action wrench. The NSS wrench has a lug locator available for use with their lug in case you're doing a RemAge setup.
One thing about the Viper barrel wrench: It seems to accommodate a limited taper. It seemed to be marginal on my varmint tapered barrel. I read about some buys hogging out the bolt holes to allow more taper before the block binds against the through-holes.

I purchased the Great Scott Vice and the Davidson rear action wrench.

PC - I was looking yesterday at the Great Scott Shooters webpage for their barrel vice and it states "There are no products matching the selection." Have they recently discontinued this product?
I found another barrel vice online that might suit my specific needs:

Does anyone have experience with this particular brand? I like that it comes with heavy duty leather inserts. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to be vastly different than the Viper/PMA style. I currently have Sinclair's barrel vice with aluminum inserts for 1.20" and 1.25" shank barrels, but I need a vice for barrels with a 1.35" shank and Sinclair doesn't offer the aluminum inserts in that dimension. So, I've been looking for one that might be a bit more "universal" in its application.

I am sure that I bought the Great Scott. I remember that he was waiting on a run and it was a little while before he got the parts. I purchased sometime last year. It is in storage right now, but I will double check the vice to make sure.
