Savage Questions

When they went from the staggered magazine in the short action to the stacked mag. the screw spacing went from something like 4.275 to 4.4. Stocks won't interchange. I bought a short action once and built it. Found out the hard way. It's gone now. Savage makes a decent rifle at its price point. I'm not a fan of the trigger and some other stuff but that's just me. They have a huge following. If you don't do threading and chambering the barrel nut system allows you to change out barrels pretty easy.
Bolt lift. Despise the bolt lift.

Go to https://www.savageshooters.com/content.php Only way you know for sure which action you have is to measure the screw spacing.... there are about 4. Single shot actions are more different too. Same with large vs small shank, you got to measure. Lots of magnum chamberings in a small shank barrels. Trigger sear is the weak point in Savage. But, the red blade accu trigger is pretty good with work. Check out the link.

If you call Savage Arms 413-642-4260 and give them the serial number, they will give you a lot of information.

I was given a model 10 a few months ago that only had 10-15 rounds through the barrel. I called Savage and told them what I had and she asked for the serial number. I was really surprised with the information received. She was able to tell me the type of stock, action, scope, caliber and it was sold as a packed.

Savage Cooperate is stupid.

I can only imagine they either had to retire some ancient Sam Colt/General Custer aged machinery as in ancient metal shapers or they where trying to save $0.03 per action.

Anytime you make things hard on your fan boys or on the industry you should have a darn good reason. As far as I can see they have no good reason for the confusion they have caused.

Instead of acting like Deming and the Japanese and focusing on continuous improvement it is more like they are constantly trying to screw the customer and cheapen an already cheap design even more!

Keep in mind I now own 3 Savage rifles so I am not being hard on them as a hater.

Instead of trying to figure something like this out your best to ask the actual question you want the answer to!

Be direct and willing to provide additional info as requested.

Remington has definitely cheapened there rifles. I'll never own another Remington. Right now I have some Savage's, at least 6.
1 Hall action rifle
1 Zermatt Origin action rifle
2 ARC Nucleus action rifles.
Lifes to short to shoot another Remington.

How so? I see no evidence of that myself.

My three screw target action will soon be a four screw if I don’t sell it.

The factory accu triggers are serviceable with a little work. The whole trigger system from the factory could stand some help. A lot of JARD haters around. I got brave and tried one, pleasantly surprised, it replaces all of the Savage parts for the most part, just as the SSS does. I was hoping TT would have one done by now. Yeah there is one out there that a lot of folks brag on, I am not one of them and find it to behave as the Remington trigger did. Pull trigger with safety on, then flip safety off and bang. By the time I get them set they are no better than a tuned factory accu trigger.

I am no hater either, have a dozen in various platforms and cartridges.

I'm thinking a no barrel lug 5 screw, but for another reason. Rear tang
will be all the lug needed.

I sold off all the aftermarket triggers and the bench guns are back running
the stock red blade triggers. They work for me in the heavy guns.
