Wet tumbling dryer...

Be careful. After wet tumbling I shake each case hard to get water out. After tumbling I rinse in tap water then rinse in distilled water made for stream irons (used to be $.99 a gallon, can use several times. This prevents mineral stain from tap water. Once after shaking each case I put the straw from a Dust-Off can in each case. I couldn't believe how much water blew out of a few cases. I put them in the kitchen oven at 190F for about 3 hours, then turn the oven off and leave them in the oven overnite as the oven cools down. Never checked any for water after drying. If I dry higher than 190F the cases are duller from oxidation.

I should explain my procedure a bit more. After wet tumbling I dump the cases on a large towel and "massage' them. Then I tumble them in the Lyman rotary tumbler to remove excess water. Then I toss them in the "Cyclone" dryer. I am using Armor All "Wash and Wax" as the detergent.

Somebody gave me this one with the whole wet tumbling set a long time ago.
I had to repair the fuse once early on, but it has been solid since then.

This is what I have been using for 5 or six years.

First I tumble in a rock tumbler with stainless pins. Dawn dish washing liquid and Lemi SHine clean up brass really nice. After tumble I put the brass if a bucket and wash with tap water. Place on a towel and dry the outside, then close up the towle and give the brass a good shaking. Then into the dryer for an hour.

do you get any discoloration from the 275 temp? I believe I did and my brass turned a rosy color which is why I use 200-225F for a 1/2 hour or so now.

My experience with discoloration has been from not allowing my gas oven to pre-heat long enough and burn off the moisture produced early on, as a byproduct of combustion. YMMV

I was perusing the "sale" and "clearance" items at Midway USA a while back as they tend to throw stuff out there on "clearance" that they never really clear out. Up popped a Lyman dryer for something like $30.00 or $35.00 (around half off). The lady of the house was happy I no longer use the oven and that was worth the price and then some. IO rarely get my brass wet unless to get rid of solvents and lube from turning necks. I bought a cheap sonic cleaner that is WAY better than the cheaper model i burned out which was a Hornady model. Not to knock Hornady. I overload those suckers.

Was just looking on the Midway USA site in "Clearance" and they have the Hornady model on sale for around $50-something dollars

The sun is mighty cheap and I don't need the brass right away when I do clean a batch.

I use a Wal Mart toaster oven. Cost $19. Dries 100 45 cal in 20 minutes.
