Well remington pulled it off-

I would like to put a Remage together

Ive seen his work, and it looks great.
Someday I would like to put a pre-chambered Remage together myself. I haven’t figured the cost but by the time you rework a bolt handle, bush the firing pin, and add a bolt release plus add a bolt knob; how close are you to something like a Defiance Tenacity compared to the 700 action?
Then I would buy a PT&G 1 piece bolt with those features. If you did everything to a bolt and what I call a complete rework to a Remington, the price will be close to a custom with a poor resale value compared to the custom.

There wouldn't be a shortage if people wouldn't hoard the stuff. Why does anyone need 25,000 rounds of .22 LR ammo? A box of 50 would last me 3 lifetimes. Do some people really think that they are gonna hold off a National Guard unit just because they have an AR-15 and 5,000 rounds of ammo for it? With Remington's luck by the time they'd be ready to go all out the shortage will be alleviated. Probably can't find a sucker to lend em the $$$ to buy raw materials.

I agree I think they delusional people that think when SHTF happens they will be out fighting world militarizes ours or China's with their hoard of ammo and lack of training and small unorganized groups has any chance. Plus hoards of ammo only help if you are going to sit and defend siege style warfare. Clearly you want to have some ammo on hand but huge stockpiles are kind of silly.

I have a family of 5 but only 2 of us are professionally trained to fight. Only 3 of us live under one roof with me being the only one that can shoot anything other than a nerf gun. No way I am holding out against platoon size element let alone a company sized element or larger. That would just be crazy talk and crazy thinking. Even in asymmetric warfare you have to have support/logistics/intelligence safe places of refuge you can retreat to after operations are finished etc....

Even if you are talking about defending against domestic terror groups you would still want to operate in small units. You would want to move until contact instead of letting them come to you. You would have to have overwhelming numbers or tactics and kill ratio to harass them sufficiently to get them to move on or if it went to attrition be able to out last them which would still take some pretty complex support/logistics for untrained civilians to come together and put together on the fly as needed!

Ammo get's heavy quickly and having a stationary fire base with out air support and large numbers and fire power can not stand up to shear numbers just look at Vietnam as an example of that. If you had artillery, air support, resupply and some man power it could be done with out all of that the fire bases would always fall.

So the ammo hoarding and the primer hoarding and gun hoarding is silly. The more guns you have especialy in more calipers the more of a drain it is on resources to attempt to stock up on ammo for all of them compared to focusing on just one. On top of that if you have a weapon in 223/5.56 as your primary and you did not already have a pile of ammo your screwed right now!

Plus when they couldn't fix the 870s or wouldn't , that was the end for me.... There was horror stories with SHOTGUNS not getting fixed after 3-4 times being sent back... It's a shotgun...I bought my first Savage because of it and have liked it so far...

Remington did offer the 6mmBR in the XP100 from their Custom Shop. I’m not sure if they offered a C/S rifle like a 40X in 6mmBR. This was back in the late 1980s. A good friend of mine father had a FFL, and would get whole sale flyers from Jerry’s, and this is were I saw the C/S XP in 6mmBR listed.

All of what you said makes sense. But if any of it were to be possible, you would have to have ammo first.

Their 6br is not the modern 6br we all know and love

They get the award for the worst run company in the world. In the time of probably the worst shortage of ammo in history, while other companies are building new plants and lines to keep up, remington’s ammunition plant in lonoke, ar will close its doors. The employee’s last day is the 29th. If they had half a brain they could keep the company afloat right now with 22lr and 223 ammo. Add in the pistol ammo and the shot tower they have they can put out a staggering amount of ammo per day if they only had a chance.
What a shame...not to mention firearms are flying off the shelves too.

Hey, y'all need to lighten up on the fat chicks, in my younger days when I hunted two legged game as well as four, the only thing a little woman could show me is where a big one lived! They never said no,:p:p:cool:
John
evidence from today you musta been on the right track. I saw a Big girl waiting in line at McDonalds while her Man sat in the truck waiting for her to bring out the food, that she paid for.

As a person with an MBA as my second degree and Aviation Martial Science and Technology BS as my first degree I understand many parts of this problem. I have repeatedly said that Firearms Manufactures are almost as clueless as Musical Instrument Manufactures when it comes to modern business models and modern marketing models. Having only worked in Automotive manufacturing some of the lessons that the automotive industry have learned in the last 30 years seems to have been missed by many other manufacturing fields! It is painful to watch these things happen over and over again. I have watched it happen in many domestic manufacturing fields in the semiconductors, textiles, electronics manufactures, appliances, musical instruments manufactures, firearms manufactures etc......In a few cases I actually took the time to attempt to help but in the end they would not listen. One my advice was free and unsolicited and second they did not like what I had to say. I have never been wrong when I predicted a companies demise the only thing I get wrong is time line I am freq. off +/- 2 years.

On the other hand when turned away or rejected I have been know to give my free analysis to their competition. On every occasion I have done that those companies have implemented my advice and trounced the domestic company that failed to listen. W. Edward Deming had this same problem and was laughed out of Detroit! I try so hard to help domestic corporations but they fail prey to their own internal politics and culture! They either can not change or are not willing to change!

My MBA is not from an Ivy League school so I actually have the capacity for independent thought and do not get weighted down with trying to parrot the right idea's in spite of facts! Never trust the economic experts you see on tv they are morons. 9 out of 10 did not see the housing bubble collapse for instance. After the fact these same experts battle cry is "No one could of foreseen it or did!" which is never true plenty of people saw it coming and said something and they were always laughed at.

You can lead a horse to water but you can not make it drink.

They are pretty good though. I have one in 6br Rem built on a mauser 98 that shoot pretty good. I also have one of the more modern Lapuas. As you know there are very minor differences. I know some of the Remington BRs will accept Lapua brass but mine won't

Dusty I’m getting kind of lost on all these responses. Did you say someone jumped in at the last moment and got a deal going on the Remington purchase?
The response you quoted was about the fiocchi plant coming to little rock. Friday was supposed to be the worker’s last day at remington ammo plant but they told them they may have a last minute buyer

I wonder how long it will be before they shut down firearm manufacturing. whats the future of the 870 and the 700 look like-- seems pretty cloudy right now

NY Governor made Remington close their llion NY factory at the end of May because of the Kung Flu... Gov Cuomo said it was 'NOT AN ESSENTIAL MANUFACTURER'. llion is where 700s are/were made.. Remington's been around 200yrs... Quite awhile by American Standards. Not so much in Europe. Beretta opened in 1546. Other European Arms companies have been around awhile too. My Opinion. Arms companies like Remington, Winchester, Colt are Strategic Defense Manufacturers. They should be protected for National Security. Just like European Arms/Ammo makers are protected along with Asian Mfgs are. Look at some of the Japanese Arms Makers. Lots of them made guns/bullets/bombs/planes for the Rising Sun to bomb Pearl Harbor. Likely some were making Samurai swords a thousand yrs ago.
As for Federal Judges, they are nothing more than LIFETIME politicians. They have all the power of a South American dictator with NONE of the risks.
Remington's Ammo Plant could be up and running Full Blast Monday Morning. A stroke of a PEN from President Trump
is all that's needed. President/Congress invoked the WARPOWERS ACT in April l think. He made GM open a factory to make ventilators. Other to make masks.WE ARE AT WAR. Look@Portland. Guns and Ammo are MOST essential in WAR.
Call your Congressman, Senator. The White House too. Tell them We need Remington. The airlines got paid $50BILLION FREE to let their planes sit on the ground. Catholic Church got $1.4billlion free too. Whats another billion for a life essential product?? All Remington needs is a LOAN! WE NEED REMINGTON
