Well remington pulled it off-

Reminds me of the story of Moto Guzzi, a motorcycle manufacturer out of Italy (of which I own one, a Griso and love it). The tag line is: Moto Guzzi, going out of business for 80 years. The Remington brand is far too valuable for them to exit the planet. They will continue. Under better or worse management but they will continue.

Agreed, the Remington brand/TM is probably their most valuable asset. The patent rights in their most iconic products have probably expired so anyone acquiring just the TM rights could probably duplicate them without legal consequence. Let’s hope that a viable buyer appears, if only to cherry pick assets from a liquidation sale.

Donald Trump Jr. and his associates? They know how to make things great again.

The last two new Remington rifles I bought were total pieces of crap. Sold both. One was a 700 that patterned like a shotgun while the other was a rimfire that was so obviously chintzy that I never bothered to fire it. I’m a CZ guy now (for factory guns, that is).

More Remington bashing, what a surprise....
Bashing - no. I think most people here yearn for the days when a Remington firearm was something everyone was proud to own. I believe the general sentiment now is akin to watching a beautiful, charming and intelligent young lady turn into a snaggletoothed crack whore. In other words, sadness.

I’ve got a RR .308 Milspec, couldn’t be any prouder!!! In fact, I’m proud of all my Remington’s in the safe. Of course, my first rifle, a Salvage, resides outside the safe where it belongs cause no one would steal it.

Well, goody for you.

Agree. Savage's have been my rifles of choice for the past three decades but Remington made a fine product for a very long time.
Savage Ugly? Nah. Savage is not ugly.
Pelosi and Maxine is ugly. If I had a dog that looked like either of them I would put a bag over it's head and teach it to walk backwards.

My Savage is purty!

If that ain’t ugly I don’t know what is.

Remington 700's are straighter now than they ever have been thanks to CNC machining centers. They can and most do suffer from timing issues but they are still very good value for the money. Savage makes a decent product and has improved it and modified it to suit the various buyers fancies but it too suffers from various issues inherent to the design.

There's a lot of competition now days. The older M700's were better finished but suffered from various issues and even then were pretty good shooters. Benchrest has pretty much been dominated by the M700 and it's various clones. Not so much for the Savage. There's a reason that a lot of customs copy the M700 and improve it in some ways. There's a huge business in aftermarket stuff for the 700 and that won't change because of the millions out there.

Were still a free country for the present time and we can buy what we want. If anyone has an issue about the rifle they have the manufacturer may or may not fix it. Most probably not unless you do some serious sweet talk and depending on what it actually is or perceived to be.

Putting a wood stock on a savage is like putting make up on a fat chick...;):D:p

Look here, we shouldn't be humiliating other rifles just because they aren't as pretty as a Winchester Model 70. We should be better than this!

My like or dislike of the appearance of other rifles probably isn't going to affect someone else's purchase decision one way or tuther. I truly can't stand the look of a Schnabel fore end but to each their own.
