Hello, I am an newbie with a couple questions. I shoot long range and hunt long range. Also do a lot of experimenting with custom reloads for rifle and hand guns. Shoot a 7MM Winchester 70 stainless with a browning boss. 165 grain bthp Sierra, with br primers, and H1100 or IMR 4831 (if I can buy it).

Hi Guys and Gals from NZ, Kiwi land and home of Lord of the Rings.

I'm an ex livestock farmer and keen hunter and paper puncher.
Ongoing need for sighting in and developing loads has bought about the need to have some sort of permanent range that has grown to permanent frames at 70, 100, 200, 250, 300, 400, and 500 yards. Gongs @ 500 & 700 yds. 1000 yds available when needed....never for anything I have. :(

Range available to invited guests. ;)

Arsenal includes: 22's, 222, 223, 243, 6mm Rem, 7.08 and 308 plus a few shotguns.
Brands include Rem, Win, Sako, Tikka and Anshultz.
We reload all.

RC & Lee presses and mostly Lee collet dies.

Thanks for all the fine info here, I hope I have something to contribute. :-\

Hello everyone, my name is Ricky and I just bought a Lee press. I've never reloaded before so I'm very exited and nervous at the same time. I hunt whitetails, so I will reload for hunting only at a range of 30yds to 200yds. I decided to start reloading mostly for the fun of it, and not to same money. And maybe to group better at 200 yards. Happy to be here!

I happened on this forum through a link on another. Erik's 100 yard tuning thread has helped my reloading a great deal already, more than I was learning anywhere else. Look forward to improving my reloading and shooting with help from this forum.

Thanks again.

Hello to all. I recently got a new AR-15 rifle. So far, I've been working up loads with bulk 55gn bullets. I've been putting 5 shots within a 2 inch circle at 100 yards. Not too bad. Now, I'm starting a quest to get 5 shots within a 1 inch circle. I'll be trying out a few different bullets and powders. I've come here to learn some of the other accuracy tricks. I'll be lurking.

Jim here from Washington state. Been shooting and reloading since the early sixties. Have some interest in accuracy but am not currently competing. Used to shoot high-power rifle matches ay Fort Richardson, AK, IHMSA silhouettes at Izaak Walton range in Birchwood, AK, and some other minor stuff. I quit high-power and IHMSA when my eyes had trouble wit Iron sights in my forties.

Hello all!
What a Great site - I am new to all of this reloading and shooting 300yds where the wind never seems to stop lol. I am Learning from sites like this and a great bunch of guys in my area. I Started reloading/shooting F Class this summer and cannot get enough of it! I am shooting a stock Savage 6mm Br at this time and would like to take this time to thank all of you who are so willing to share your knowledge.

Hi,

I am loading 77gr HPBT sierra with 23.5gr of varget. Can anyone give me a good trim length for my cases.
Thanks,

David Duff-been reading and using this site for a few years. Like wildcat cartridges-dasher, 6 SLR, 25 wsm, 7-08 ai. Want go know pros and cons of 6.5 Creedmoor from those with experience with this round. Is there an agreed upon "best" brass? Where does it's strengths lie?

Hi everyone, i reload and shoot just about anything i can get my hands on. My biggest passion is BR target shooting, but i still tinker around with hunting rifles when ever the opportunity arises. A lot of useful information on here just thought it would be nice to pick brains on here once in a while.

Hi Everyone,

Just beginning my journey into the precision shooting world. Have been a competitive pistol shooter for many years and have been reloading going on 20 years. Knees aren't as good as they used to be so my "running & gunning days" are coming to an end. But, I'm not going to give up shooting; ever.

Question: What are the best primers to use for the 6mm br? Need some advice. Thanks for the help.

John

Hello.
I attended F class nationals last week and was told about this site. I just finished build of 6SLR Broughton barrel and Hs stock jewel trigger. Built it primarily for long range prairie dog shooting in Wyo.
Have never shot hi power competition but think I want to try it. The gun has shown it will do the job out to 1787 yds so if I can do my part it should be fun to try to shoot with the real masters. Still learning and thanks to all here for all the great info.

Hi, all. Long time lurker on this site and I hope to contribute constructively and usefully on a topic or two.

I've been reloading for 40+ years (can't remember the last time I bought a box of factory centerfire ammo) and I currently reload for .20Practical, 22 K-Hornet, 5.56x45/.223 Rem, 6mm Dasher, .243 Win AI, .25-'06 Rem, .260 Rem AI, 6.5x284 Norma, 7mm-08 Rem, 7.62x51/.308 Win, .300 WSM and .44 Rem Mag.

The shooting sports have been a life-long passion. I principally load and shoot for precision but I love to spend a day in the field. I shoot F Class and F-TR, I 'made a living' behind a rifle and optic when I wore BDUs or a Ghillie suit to work and I've learned a great deal at the loading bench over the years - sometimes the hard way . . . .

Looking forward to learning and sharing. Cheers!

- JLT

How's it going fellow shooters. I'm not entirely new to the reloading world but not a professional either. All my reloading equipment is redding brand and currently load 7mm rem mag and am just getting into the 338 lapua world. Just waiting on my supplies to show up in the mail so I can work up some loads.

new to reloading sport have shot high end ammo for yrs.bought 111 lr 338 lapua want to use Colorado elk, been using 300 win mag.need help for bullet and powder shots anywhere from 00yds to 1000 yds.and advice would be great ty.

Hello! I've been reloading since the 1970s and I'm still having fun. These days I don't shoot much but I reload for my son who does. We shoot a variety of rifles/calibres from 22RF to 8X57JS.

I'm still using old components and tools but as they wear out or are depleted I'm having fun trying new things like these fantastic powder scales that can measure 0.02gr and new scopes made in China that have breathed new life into our rifles. Sometimes the bullets do seem to have eyes. We load for accuracy most times but we also like to hunt deer, rabbits, grouse or coyotes. Then we fuss over trajectories and terminal ballistics. It's all good.

Favourite calibres: 8X57JS for deer, .308 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, and 222 Rem for targets. Have some experience with 6.5x55 and 6mm Rem too.

Current issues: The high price of components in Canada. We pay over $40 CDN/pound for powders made in Canada, like IMR4064. I think that's too much. I've bought powder for ~$10/pound. Even with inflation improved automation and modern technology should permit lower prices. We need more competition. Hodgdon owns the market. USA prices are much less but law/regs prevent us shopping cross-border. So much for Free Trade...

I look forward to reading what others are doing with reloading. It's not just about cheaper ammunition but better ammunition. :)

I reload for 7mm Remington mag and 338 lapua. You really have to watch the price on ammo. Sometimes is cheaper just to buy it because of the cost for the hand reloader. The powder prices are getting out of hand and hard to find it in stock at most places. Even match grade primers are getting harder to find. I believe the govt is buying most of the US's ammo. Where does it all go when it's not on the shelves at the store? No ammo companies are going out of business. Good old govt buying it all to try and stop all these mass shootings and terrorist attacks. It's not working! Start selling ammo to us law abiding responsible guns owners and maybe, just maybe we can arm ourselves and stop all this bullshit!
