Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Hello

I’ve been watching this forum for the last couple years and just signed up today. I got started hand loading back in 91 in order to feed my IPSC/USPSA handgun. I now load a multitude of cartridges for handguns and rifles but mostly 223, 308, and 300wsm. I am concentrating on precision rather than volume now.

Hi everyone

I am from Wendake, Québec Canada

I am reloading for a year now and spend a lot of time in this passion. I shoot every week, short range and long range. Plan to compete Br and long range this year.

I will have a lot of questions and I'm sure it's the right place to get the answers.

Hi everyone. Steve here from the great state of Nevada. First time poster here, long time shooter. Rimfire, and small bore cinter fire.

My name is Harlon Alford. New to the board but not to shooting and reloading. Strictly a hunter and a die hard 7mm slut. Also a member of the Accubond society.

I reload for 243, 30-30, 765 argentine and also 8mm. I have reloaded for a few different rifles for friends. I also like to archery hunt.

Cliffy or Cliff by some prior notoriety out of Southwestern Michigan, three miles from Lake Michigan. My passion is handloading .223 Remington and .243 Winchester. I load other calibers, but not as passionately. I'm a NRA range safety officer at the club where I shoot. I try to shoot two or three times a week to prevent rustiness. I've written several short stories as attested to by punching my full name into any Internet engine. I'm leaving for Texas within the next 14 days, so my upcoming entries shall be schetchy at best till I return. I enjoy fishing as much as target shooting. Some of the loads I shoot almost daily, have found disfavor powerwise by several reloading babies. If I ever post a specific load, you should know I fired it regularly, or I wouldn't post it! Any load I can't keep within a 3/4' group at 100 yards, I wouldn't even mention. This is all I currently want you to know about me, but once a friend, who knows what you could learn about me and my precision handloads. Cliffy

Hi folks. I'm Brian From texas and just really getting into the reloading. I have friends that have been doing it for years but recently decided to do it myself and I'm having some fun with it. I am having a problem necking down .284 brass to a 6mm. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Luke here, from Texas,DFW area) where I love to shoot w/ my kids - mostly 22lr but also a Ruger 77 in 6mm Rem,which the boys love, too). Brand new to reloading and still reading, asking questions, researching, acquiring materials, etc. Am fortunate enough to have found everything I need to reload for the 6mm,even primers) but haven't started yet. I have a couple different powders already, but would like to find someone locally that might have some H4350 they might like to trade for primers?....

Hi, new to the forum. My name is Matt, live in Washington State. I'm an avid varmint shooter hence the name Ratter. I've accumulated a good collection of firearms over the years, but now focus primarily on the small bores, 17 HMR Savage, 17 MachII in Cz 452 Varmint and a custom I built from a 10/22 with a Volquartzen barrel. Also just working up loads for my Cooper 21 Phoenix in 20 Vartarg, trying both H4198 and V N120. 3 Remington 204 rugers,2 700's and a XR 100). Have six 223's from Ruger #1V, Rem 700's, and RRA and Bushmaster AR's. 3 22-250's, Ruger flat bolt Varmint and two Rem 700's.

I'd better stop as it's not my intention to come off as a braggart, just want to establish my interest.

Kinda put out with Remington lately and the amount of free-bore they are building into their rifles now. I spoke with a factory rep last week and he admitted they were doing it like that from now on in all their rifles and that million$ had been spent proving it had no affect on accuracy. I argued that their 700's in 204 ruger had so much free bore that the bullet was pretty much out of the case by the time it met the rifling's. I was able to get him to admit it was done with the intent of allowing shooters to run all weights of factory ammo, ie heavy/ long bullets. My response was that their 1/12 twist had trouble stabilizing 40 grainers and anything more would be foolish to try. Not hard to figure out this is a liability thing, just like those nasty trigger pulls we had to deal with. My Remington 700's do shoot OK, but can't help but think they would be better the old way with a short jump. I'm sending my VSSF to Daryl Hollands for a setback of the factory barrel and re-chamber. I'd re barrel but the factory fluted barrel does look cool.

I've rambled enough, Matt

Bill White here, in Northwest Connecticut. I have been bit by the shooting bug & enjoy shooting them all, Ruger No1, .308, old 222 Sakos, a 6BR, Volquartsen 22WMR,suppressed), .223 AR & Bolt guns, 204 Ruger AR & Bolt guns, 22-250, 220 Swift, and 221 Fireball, AND my Winchester Mod 67 22lr. I shoot on private land mostly & not too much... I enjoy taking 2 trips out to SD ND MT WY etc, to be humbled by shooting at long distances in the wind at prairie dogs. This site & people here contributing have been a great help in all aspects especially reloading -how to & why's etc. Latest gun is a LMT .223 AR semi-custom, with iron sights. Again, thank you to the many knowledgeable contributors- also, my son has asweet little browning 22 & now outshoots me in our .22 50 yd contests.

Hello - one more newbie here! Just a novice seeking mentoring. I own a small number of firearms which I reload, and a few that I do not). I reload a 7mm-08, .338 Federal, and a .44 Mag. I am now venturing into uncharted water. I am wanting to learn how to develop a new load. The reason for this is my .338 Federal. Relatively new round. I saw a nice article recently on the 6mmBR site that discussed the virtues of Alliant's Reloder 17 used in the .308 Winchester with a Lapua 185 grain bullet. This intrigues me given the same case capacity of the .308 and .338, and the fact that I want to develop a recipe for the same weight bullet,185 grains). I am searching for someone who can give me some sound instruction for correlating the load recipe from the article mentioned, to the load I want to develop using a 185 grain Barnes TSX in .338 Federal.

Another newbie here, and I am really new, and probably over my head, having never reloaded anything. But, want to learn and do this right, and expect I will learn a lot here, especially since I am after top accuracy.

Phil

HI fellow shooters. I live just outside of Fort Worth Texas in a little town called Cool, population 238. I am a Fort Worth fire fighter. I have been hunting, shooting and reloading all of my life. I have rediscovered my love of bench shooting and have even started to shoot in a local match with my Father. It had always been a great way for my dad and me to spend an afternoon. Now that he is retired and getting older, you can never have too many days like that.
