Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Greetings guys, I'm from Barrie Ontario, I currently shoot a 6 BR and i'm just getting started with my 6 PPC. I also shoot a 50 BMG as well.

Mike.

Hi guys and ladys, I am new to the site and like what I see and am new to reloading, My main gun I am working on is a 6mm rem 700, I shoot mostly ground hogs at long rang 300-600yds and want to push it farther out to 1000 or more.

hi all! New to the board and am enjoying it thus far. Have been reloading my own hunting ammunition for the last 20+ years. now find that others enjoy my rouonds and want me to load for them, so i'll probably be asking several questions here. My main rifles are the 30-06 spring, 35 rem,and 7.62x39 SKS; main handgun the 357 special. Hope to learn a lot nad maybe be able to help someone in the process! see u on the board!

Hi Im Medtronic of Borg ...LOL thats because I have had ten pacemakers, mostly made by medtronic, so I figure I am mostly Borg. Borg is a sci fi charator thats part biological and part machine. LOL

Anyway I have survive 20 heart surgeries during my life. I love to shoot targets. And can still sit my butt down in the woods and wait out a deer now and then. But thats about it.

I have started to reload for the first time and am having much fun learning. I have a 45lc henry I love to shoot. And a 30-06 BLR. The 06 is new to me and is a bit stout on recoil. So Im planning on reducing loads to the strting loads to see if I can find a good happy medium round for both hunting and target shooting. I have put up a post regarding what I ws told reciently. That since I am planing on staying on the low side of the loads listed in my Barns Manual. That I should stay with thicker brass to keep the pressures up. That makes some sence to me. Or was he full of it. If he was right and you agree what brass would you recommend?

I am really enjoying reading all this stuff. BTW us disabled people live on really tight budgets!!! If you have any old not antient manuals that could be safely used to get me started would you let me know. Thanks !

Just registered to your forum and think you guys are quite good. I'm retired army and mainly shoot 30-06 for hunting and paper. I'm in the process of buying equipment so that I can start to reload and according to other forums you guys here are pretty much a bunch of fanatics. You are exactly the bunch I need to learn from if I have questions. After all to me fanatics are nothing more than misunderstood geniuses. I won't bother with petty questions unless I have not seen it posted. Thanks again Manny.

I am new to this forum. Loading mainly 300 ultra mag.
Currently 125 grain for paper and deer and finding good reults. Anyone out here loading lighter bullets w/ higher velocities?
I am using factory Rem 700. Any personal experience re: 3700+ fps and related challenges such as ejector marks and issues w/ excessive barrel wear?,The only input I have found is re-iterated cautions from 2nd hand sources.)
Marty

Marty, A lot of guys jumped on the Ultra Mag deal including myself. It was fun for me to begin with but then I realized this thing was killing on both ends. I did shoot some Nosler 125 gr. BTs at some pretty fast speeds, about the same as yours) and it shot very accurate. I don't remember seeing any pressure issues with mine but that has been several years ago. Best of Luck with your rig man. Best thing to do is load it back to a more moderate load with 150 or 168 gr. range bullets and try to get all the barrel life you can out of it. Bill

Hi everyone,i stumbled across this site looking for info on reloading and found it to be an invaluable resource. I currently only reload .223 for my rock river ar. so far i have only loaded about 100 rounds so i will have a lot of questions.i just recieved my die set for .45 acp so that will be next. again great site
MIKE

Mike, if you're reloading .45 acp for a pistol, I suggest N320 and 200gr moly/polymer coated SWCs or RNs from Precision Bullets in Texas. I've tried at least 10 powders in the .45 acp, and for bullseye work, N320 was overall best. VERY accurate, burns clean,no sparks like W231), very consistent, meters well.

The Precision bullets offer the accuracy of lead without lead build-up in barrel. http://precisionbullets.com/

NOTE: I would use only jacketed bullets in a polygonal barrel like Glock and HK.

As my name suggests I am a 5.56 guy...always have been and love the challenge of shooting against others with 7.62.
It's a bit like catching a big fish on a little flick rod...pure adrenaline.
I live in Western Australia and my home range is Yarloop which only goes out to 800m but there are plenty of others nearby with one or two more mounds.
Only have old Omark Sportco's at the moment but am saving for my 1st all brand new rifle to celebrate my 10th year of shooting toward the end of 2009...looking at a full Barney Lawton setup...just need to hide a few more $ from her indoors.

Cheers

Hey everyone. I've been reloading for handguns for a very long time. I HAVE reloaded for rifles before, .223, 6mm Rem, and 7mm08. Extremely limited experience in rifle reloading, but would like to restart with emphasis on accuracy. Close second for downrange power. I intend to get a Rem. SPS Tac. in .308 very soon, to restart. I have never shot a rifle with a 20 inch barrel, but am enamored of short stealthy firearms, and I'm sure they're easier to carry for long distances if need be. TNX, and I'll be talking to you all. Paul

Hi
I like shooting and hunting.Me favorite is shooting gophers.
Just got .222 rem build from ground up on Remington action after wearing out original barrel.
Oh did I mention I reload.
Joint this site because I see lots of good stuff posted.

Hi everyone,
Ive been reading this site for a year or so now, very informative, extremely so in fact.

I am a shooter from Norway, I dont compete in anything right now, but i used to shoot our version of "highpower", For now i ust plain like to shoot. I also like to experiment, and to learn.
My biggest shooting interest right now is our informal "long-range" meets, that may evolve into a local F-class or maybe "tactical" matches.

My current main guns is an Schultz & Larsen M97, with a 6.5-284 S&L barrel and a local laminate stock, a KKC, I swap two Zeiss, optics nut) sights on this, a VD 2.5-10x42 and VD 6-24x56. The receiver has an Ken Farrell 25moa M1913 base on it.
The other rifle is an .22LR Anscutz 64MSR, I am trying a Bushnell Elite 10x40 in a semi homemade 20 moa mount, that will se an upgrade...
Both rifles accept a BR Reflex T8 telescopic supressor.

On order i have a Lothar Walther .338 Federal barrel for the S&L action, that will have a Hausken Suppressor, and rifled 1:7" to shoot 300gr SMKs subsonic, as well as beiing a "Moose Whacker" with full house 210grainers. Also in the coming is an equally fast twist .223,Lilja and a locally built action, a Hansen), to shoot 90gr pills. My biggest shooting shortcoming is probably consistent recoil management, so i feel a .223 will let me be more consistent a long range, even if it drifts somewhat. The .223 will also be accepting the BRR T8.

With the vast knowledge on this forum i doupt i will be able to contribute much, but expect reloading questions on subsonic 338 Federal loads.. And the odd "getting the most out of the .223 Q

Hi, new to the group. A recent convert to reloading. Have been reloading to go along with my new involvement with Benchrest --- 6 ppc. Really enjoying it and now getting ready to try reloading some .45 since I seem to be going thru it quite rapidly.....
