WAY off topic… Sleep Number bed?

My daughter gave me one and i did like one of the early explorers, I burned my still good mattress so I could never go back. I have yet to figure out the remote so I can elevate the head portion of the bed. My old bed was a big wooden headboard and matching foot board(heavy), every time it touch the new bed it is so light it moves around. I wish I had my old mattress but I have made my bed and must lie in it so to speak.

Best money that I ever spent was on a 100% natural latex mattress. NO, it is not hot in the summer. It is covered with a wool liner which keeps you cool in the summer & warm in the winter. Plus, since wool is considered a fire-retardant material, there are no chemicals applied to the mattress. Studies show that these chemicals can cause health issues. I've never slept better in my 60+ years than on 100% natural latex. Just my opinion, & I don't work for or own stock in any latex products.

Thanks! I'll look into them. Kinda got a bad taste from my last new experience with the latest and greatest mattress but I trust people on here more than I do the reviewers on the mattress sites.

We've had sleep number for 20+ years (2 beds). My number is 100. I sleep inferior anywhere else. Pre-covid this sucked because I was on the road 3-4mo out of the year.

After postponing a new mattress way too long (like a decade) due to sticker shock, I finally said the hell with it and bought a cheap mattress made by Allswell. OMG it’s fantastic. There’s really something about the hybrid mattress design.
Bought a queen size on sale for $299. There aren’t many true bargains these days but this mattress is a steal. Two years into it and wish I’d gotten it sooner. Much much sooner.

Wife and I bought a dual control Serta air mattress (we think) thirty plus years ago and it's still going strong. The pump failed about four years ago, which we replaced, but the mattress is still going strong. I like rock-hard and she likes mushy. Only complaint is that I thought the air gets warm after being in bed for a while. She said I'm nuts, and I can't argue with that too much. IMO, this air mattress gives up nothing to the latest greatest.

She moved to another room because of snoring, hers, and bought a hybrid foam mattress that she loves. If I remember it ran almost $1,500.

Okay, the snoring is mine, in addition to methane gas, but I tell everyone it's her just to piss her off.

My lovely bride is going through “the change”…. I have the blessing of being able to fall asleep almost anywhere when tired. She… not so much.

She has back, breathing, hot/cold flash, you name it problems…

She is looking at getting us a Sleep Number mattress in hopes to find some relief.

The only real “reviews” you can get are on their web sight.

Anyone ever go that route? Good, bad, ugly?

:)
15+ years experience. They are great for sleep and highly customizeable support settings. Mine was a Gen 1 or Gen 2. The only better sleep I ever got was my water bed in my late teens to early 30’s. I loved that bed…

I am fortunate enough to be able to fall asleep anywhere. Hard, soft, loud, quiet, dark, bright- let me get still for 15 seconds and I'm out. Even fell asleep in a MRI tube, was woke by a nurse wiggling my foot, she said I had to stay awake because I tried to roll over in my sleep! King of the Power Nap!

The past 10+ years have been a struggle for me with sleep, averaging 4.5 hours/night, so we have also been contemplating replacement.
We bought our SN bed in 2002 after being plagued with lower back and shoulder/neck pain it was the only option that seemed to help. The adjustability was nice, although was used infrequently. The "pit" issue bugs my wife more than me, the foam divider between the air mattresses just wears out after 15+ years, go figure..
When I bought this one, I thought I might have gone nuts paying that much for a bed, but I will have to say it was TOTALLY worth it.
Having said that, I do feel technology has advanced enough that other similar-priced premium beds are worth considering, especially after seeing price of newer SN beds.

We purchased a Stearns and Foster extra firm 4 years ago. Somewhere around $2400…no bells and whistles just a normal pillow top King….fantastic mattress. A friend of mine bot a Sleep Number a few years ago also….first night he slept like a baby…was his quote…..my reply…what did you do..piss the bed and cry all Night. He spent a lot of money on it…around 4 k plus. Today. He regrets the purchase.
