Water soluble case lube

Hornady One Shot = your best shot at getting a case stuck in your die.

I pronouce a thousand curses on the stuff.

If you like it, I am happy for you. :)
I don’t know why you’re quoting me, I’m the guy who had loaded 47,000 rounds as of 11 months ago when this discussion was going on. Since then, I’ve loaded another 3800, so I have now officially loaded over 50,000 rifle rounds using Hornady One Shot without a stuck case. Almost all of those rounds were fired in competition. That’s what I base my statements on. Maybe I’m using it wrong?

I'm quoting you, cuz YOU said you like that miserable concoction. I got two cans of the foul blend. IM me your mailing address and I'll send it to you no charge.

That's why said "If yer happy, I'm happy for you." Don't worry. Be happy. SMH chill.

I’ve got plenty. Donate it to your local junior shooting program, but make sure they read the instructions before using it! ;)

I wouldn't do that to them. That would be mean. Cause you can do everything that direction says and this stuff will still bite you square and the buttock. C I would send it you though. :)

I have over 30k 223 rounds with one shot and no issues. The key is to use more than you think you need plus some. I spray them till they drip and let them sit overnight. One shot works well for 223.

I guess we're both using an inferior product ;). I've also re-sized several tens of thousands of cases using Hornady One Shot lube without a single stuck case. Not one. I guess it's possible that it really doesn't work, and we just don't know it yet. Maybe if we re-size another twenty or thirty thousand cases each, we'll figure it out. LOL

OR, maybe we are just due for 100 or so stuck cases in a row since we've gotten so lucky up until now? o_O

I also read Ned's post and understand that he and you haven't had any issues. I am happy for you. I simply stated my experience. I use One Shot for pistol rounds, but won't use it for rifle any more.
There are many products and ways to address this issue, I just don't happen to agree with your method. Doesn't mean you are wrong, nor does it mean I am wrong.

He's not the only person to have issues. That's the only case lube I've ever used that ended up with stuck cases.

I'm tickled that it works for you though.

I tried RCBS with the pad. Didn't like it. Then switched to the Frankford Arsenal and Dillon case lubes. They were okay.

The Hornady One Shot is the best I've used. Wouldn't use any other. You can experiment with how much you spray on the cases. Right now I'm putting just barely enough to keep the press running smooth. Wont contaminate primers or powder, so you're good there.

I stand the cases up in a reloading tray and spray at a downward angle to get spray in the case mouth and the top half of the case. Makes that expander ball go through without a hangup.

Must admit I find if I don't clean the bio green off pretty sharpish I get cases that look like this:

It is worse if left on for sometime. So, if you lube and immediately dump in soapy water it gives a nice result, but if you say lube, resize, trim deburr and chamfer, you get problems with it.

Iike hogpatrol, Imperial for me on rifle cases. One Shot is the BEST propellant I've found for the Potato gun! I'll buy more.

I've been down this road as well; I'll be controversial.

Imperial in case body graphite dry on necks for small volume or single stage press loading.

I too have locked up cases / dies using one shot; so did the lanolin for a while. I hate the sticky cases and lanolin is NOT water soluble. Hint, isopropyl and ethyl work to remove it, got to have over 90% preferred over 95%.

Back to one shot. Thank you Eric Cortina for your video on how you use one-shot. No more problems for me. I'm not an expert, and most experts will not claim they are either. For those of you doing something different, cool! For those who have had problems with one-shot, you're not alone. If you want to use it, keep an open mind and learn stuff, it's not like other products.

Oh, and pistol brass; meet carbide dies. I clean the cases and then the brass IS the lube...

Good day,

The Redding Imperial Bio-Green is water soluble and washes off with either a tumbler without pins or a little bit of Shout followed by Dawn and Lemishine in a ceramic bowl.

I spoke to Redding about cutting it with water, they did not recommend that. I just dribble a small amount on cases and stir the cases with my fingers to distribute the lube.

HTH,

Hornady one shot spray on small stuff but unless you are adept at using stuck case tools, don't use it on any very long cartridge.

Edit: added "spray".
Been using One Shot for the better part of 10yrs on everything i load and have never had stuck case issues. Pistol cal up to 300wm. After prep, I wash with soap and water, then let them dry.

Imperial here, and of late, Hornady Unique. I do a lot of
wild cat case forming. Unique has worked well for the
long draws. Imperial though for the FL die after fire forming.

I did not find Cortina's vid, but watched F-class John's. I always sprayed the One Shot with the cases in a loading block standing on their bases (as per instructions on the can). I never felt confident doing that because I am pretty inept at using spray paint- lots of runs and missed spots. I can see how the plastic bag method is easier and less messy.
Cleaning the sizer die regularly should be done regardless of lubricant used.
My old cans of One-Shot do state that the cases should be wiped clean ( "to remove remaining lubricant") after sizing. Makes one wonder why they make that statement.
I will still use Royal or Imperial case lube because I have developed confidence in those products. Having had issues with One-Shot in the past, it just does't make sense to change my methods at this point. Also, I do get respiratory issues from the spray much like I do with using Kroil.
FWIW - I do not do volume reloading.
