VV equivalent to Varget

N150 is Very close to Varget. Don't trust the burn rate charts for it. In my experience, it was basically the same in 6BR and Dasher.

All I can say is I'm thankful I have enough N140 for another 3000 rounds, because after this thread and Hodgedon's high prices I'm feeling like it might become the new unobtainable powder. Lol

Has anyone used N140 in the M1 Garand, with 150gr FMJ and/or 168gr HPBT? It seems to be in the burn range that would work well in that platform.

Been buying up VV for several months after Hodgdon dropped the enduron line and I dropped Hodgdon. Put in a good supply of most of them and been having great results. N-140, N-540, and N-150 cover most of what I have. N-133 covers my 223 loads very well. Threw Hodgdon out of my powder cabinet permanently. I'm good on powder for many years to come

I'd say N135 and N140 probably straddle it, kind of like N140 and N150 straddle Varget. It'll vary a little depending on specific lots, etc.

Those and I was wondering about N530 , I suppose if I saw some I’d grab it to test.

Viht N530 is a strange powder with by Viht powder standards a very restricted range of applications. I've only rarely seen it work well in any of them. In bulk form, it was Viht's original powder for factory 55gn M193 5.56mm military equivalents. Viht has discontinued this grade, and few will miss it.

Thanks guys for the VV education. I had no idea this would be such a spirited topic. Guess I am not the only one tired of the price gouging going on. I have used VV133 in my .22 Waldog with fantastic results. Off to test more of the offerings. Thanks again for the hard earned info, much appreciated!

I have ran several tests with N-150 and N-165 in my dashers. 150 has several nodes with the 103-105 class Bullets from slow to formula 1. N-165 is way slower, but accurate. I have not tried N -160 yet, is it closer to 150 or 165?

I have a 8# of N-530 but havent done much testing with it as N-133 has performed great in my 223. As Laurie said, it was discontinued as was tin star (n-32c)

I've ran varget in my 204r for ever now and have been curious as to N140 or maybe N130.

Had good luck in the 204R with N530.

N140 is what I am using in BR and f-class for my 105s. Was considering N135 but the slight speed increase is not worth extra pressure.

The short answer is N140. 22.5 with a 77 is a saami 223 pressure load. Increase to 24.0 grs for a 556 pressure load.

Winchester has, recently been making StaBall, "Match" and it's essentially, Varget in, Ball Powder form !
I saw Gavin on Ultimate Reloading ( UR on, YouTube ) talking about,. IT
Should BE,. "Awesome" stuff ! He will run, Tests !
I always like "Throwing" Ball Powders, whenever,.. Possible !
It will replace, 748 Win Ball, in my .223 / 5;56 Loads, as it will BE,.. Temp, "Stable" !
