Vista Outdoor companies donating ammo to Ukraine

From The Lewiston Morning Trubune, 13 March 2022, Lewiston, Idaho:

Ammunition manufactured in Lewiston is on its way to Ukraine. CCI and Speer in Lewiston, along with Remington and Federal Ammunition, are donating a total of a million rounds of ammunition to the Ukraine armed forces, according to a news release from Vista Outdoor.

All of the bullet-manufacturing companies are part of Vista Outdoor’s sporting products segment.

Ukraine’s military has been a customer of Federal, CCI and Speer for years and the donation is intended to meet the call of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for more ammunition, according to the news release.

“The war in Ukraine has displaced millions of citizens and exposed average people to the horrors of war,” said Jason Vanderbrink, president of Remington, CCI, Speer and Federal Ammunition, in the news release.

“Supporting the relief effort is a crucial element of the global response and we are proud to do our part,” he said.

“It underscores how critical the Second Amendment is in America and highlights the importance of the ability of American manufacturers to supply our allies with ammunition,” Vanderbrink continued. “We have long supported Ukrainian armed forces and we will continue to do so in this global cause to unite for democracy.”

I would rather they use the primers I would have bought for the ammo going to Ukrainians fighting for their existence.

Vista sending ammo is fine but it does not make me forget their opportunism over the Covid event. They will probably use this excuse to further delay supplying the reloading market and thereby keep ammo prices high: Better for profits and PR.

A little research and one could find out that powder,brass and primer has ALWAYS been an over run/excess to ammunition manufacturers needs. We as home hand loaders are nothing more than a pimple on their butt. Yes we are a market but a small percentage at best.

I would not have expressed it so colorfully, but you're right. And the facts and figures should be available in corporate shareholder reports and investor prospectuses.

If you guys want to be argumentative over a company for whatever reason sending ammunition to Ukraine to fight off the POS Russians and bitch about your personal problems of not being able to access ammo or primers you have some serious issues. No need for donations, the U.S. is sending 20 million rounds plus a lot of other stuff to help stop the invasion. This is not included in the 13.6 billion dollars of aide.

Small arms ammunition sent over there is a photo op. Actually
if you have been paying attention, the Ukranians don't shoot
much of it, They are probably over supplied and pulling stocks
out of abandoned Russian convoy vehicles. What they need is
stand off munitions. If they want to make a statement, Vista
should write a fat check to Raytheon and Lockheed Martin for
tank and aircraft killing missiles. Or several truck loads of RPG's.
They can double as mortars also.

Let me back track on the ammo. Maybe some 20mm AA to go
along with some stingers.
