Velocity trigger issues? (AR15)

I have a Velocity Trigger drop in trigger in my custom AR. Today at the range it started "running amuck"... I mean allowing 2-6 round burst! I have since pulled the trigger from my rifle... any one else have any similar issues with velocity triggers?

It needs to adjusted exactly as per the instructions. It will do that when you try to set it too low.

I have not made any adjustments to it since i put it in my rifle, 5-7000rds ago... It has been flawless for about 4years, till yesterday. After removing it and inspecting it i noticed that there is a screw in the center bottom of it. I dont know for certain what the screw is for but i tried messing with it a little bit. It seemed as though it made the sear catch "stronger" if I screwed it in a little. I have not put it back in to try it out, yet.... I did also email the company to see what they would have to say. still waiting for a response.

Haven’t had one go full auto, but did send one back because it was not resetting, making it necessary to push the trigger forward after every shot. Haven’t heard back from them yet but am confident they will make it right.

I don't have that kind of use on my trigger, less than 1000 rounds

5-7000 may be even a little on the conservative side... I love this trigger! and I hope that Velocity will either give instructions to fix it, or replace it. I dont want to have to purchase a Giessele or Timneyt rigger! thay are way over priced for what they are!

I probably have that many on a tuned RRA 2 stage on my comp gun, I put the velocity in a lightweight fun gun that my wife and granddaughter can also shoot. Three different styles of shooters, and no problems. I don't know what the warranty is for the triggers, but if it is as good as the triggers themselves, you should not have a problem getting satisfaction. Good luck.

PS: according to velocity's website, the trigger is non adjustable.

also, they might fix it, just to get it back and see what went wrong, improving the next batch

More than likely you are 'bump firing', as they have such a short reset.
Get someone to take a slomo video of your finger and trigger while firing.

A close Friend and I have 7 Velocity triggers between us. Never an issue these last 6 years, and that's been a LOT of ammo downrange. Got to meet Tom Vehr at the NRA Exibits in Lou; great fellow. Earlier this year when I called the offices needing replacement bushings to switch from a Colt to an Aero lower, I spoke with Tom directly.
Absolutely love my Velocity products.

As for doubling, yes, that can be shooter induced and have witnessed it at the Garand Clinics our club used to sponsor at Scott Mountain KD Range on Ft. Knox.
We taught the technique of pressing trigger to the rear and holding for a count of two seconds. The handoff of the hammer from the interrupter back to the sear produces an audible and tactile click when you then release pressure and trigger resets. If you have a "mushy" trigger technique, or take your finger off the trigger upon firing, this can negatively affect your on target results.
A slo-mo video of your own firing process can aid in your (pun unavoidable) trouble shooting.
Likewise, it can also help identify if trigger is indeed the source of the issue.
Please keep us advised on your progress.

I would send it back to the manufacturer if you can... Safety first not to mention any chance of having to deal with law enforcement... I just replaced an old factory trigger that was installed wrong at the factory and once installed correctly I guess it wore funny and would fire on the trigger release also about 80% of the time..

I just changed the trigger in my AR15 after many years with the gritty mil spec.to a LaRue MBT 2S , nice trigger also. I like a 2 stage in a semi . Seems odd for the trigger to act up after shooting it for awhile . It's a single stage drop in job so there's not much you could do hopefully the company will change it out . Have you tried a 2 stage ? Some are adjustable. The MBT is working well for me.

I did the hold back and then release... still was getting atleast 2rds...not firing on reset. 2 rds+ then catching the sear. I am new not to shooting or rapid fire shooting. I purposely tried the "mushy finger" and solid hold back and release. Mushy yeilded 4-6rds and solid hold back was allowing 2-4 with the last mag i fired. I purchased this trigger with the intent i would do some 3gun. so i wanted a light and fast trigger, with a good reputation. I also waned not to be robbed for it. I love this trigger, and will happily purchase from Velocity again.
As of right now I am still waiting to hear back from Velocity customer service.
