Velocity trigger issues? (AR15)

Copy That, Normandinpatriot; I do not wish to be construed as implying that you were inexperienced.
As stated earlier, I'm certain Tom will be interested in dissecting this trigger group in an effort to prevent future problems, if any, in his line of products.
Let us know how things develop.

I'm not familiar with that brand of trigger, though I can say that ANY adjustable A/R triggers I have tried, (Jewell, Jard, and some pricy ones I can't recall offhand) are ALL prone to doubling when set below 2 1/2 pounds or so. Two pounds is on the cusp of unreliable in an A/R in my experience. I think most would say more than that and if it were a duty weapon - I'd not go under 3 with any trigger.

I finally got a call from Velocity... They want want my trigger back. They said their expected service life is 40,000+rounds..They asked a few questions and decided they need to see my trigger and will either fix or replace it...

As for those that have said things about trigger pull adjustability... Velocity Triggers are not meant to be adjustable, and I have made 0 effort to adjust mine. It was factory set and I installed per the instructions and have shot somewhere between 5-10,000 rounds... most likely in the 7000rnd area... I love this trigger and would recommend to any one.... I just dont want to deal with the ATF because of a malfunction...

I will update again after I hear back from Velocity...

UPDATE!!
I just got a new trigger in the mail from Velocity...Unfortunately the did not provide any info as to what went wrong with the trigger I originally purchased. I will call them tomorrow or monday and see if I cant get any more specific info...

Talked to Jarod today at Velocity Triggers. He said the reason for sending me the new trigger is because I had on of the triggers from their original first run. They have since changed some design and manufacturing processes and it was just easier for them to replace my trigger than repair it. The ultimate problem was pre-mature disconnect spring failure.

Good news. I have 3 or 4 velocity 3 lb triggers - like them a lot and glad to hear they take care of them.
I had an issue with an old JP once. Just got wonky. JP replaced it and also said it was their first design that had been improved.
Good people in the firearms industry.

Good Times!
Range report when possible, please.

Just got back from shooting. I am glad to report that my replacement trigger works flawlessly. I believe it is even better than the one I purchased 4-5 years ago. No noticeable creep and a crisp glass like break. I dont have a trigger pull gage to say if it is truly 3lbs, but it is light and consistent.

The fix in the field for this is to put as much "tension" on the set screws as possible. One on each side of the trigger pack. It pushes the trigger pack higher and fixes it.

Not sure that will work... My set screws were NOT loose. The problem was with the disconnector spring. Maybe adjusting the set screw in the center, which adjust trigger pull weight may make a difference... but from what I gather after talking with Jarod at Velocity Triggers, that would be a weak band-aid at best. Likely not accomplishing anything.
I could have installed, in the field, a stock military trigger. doing this would have provided a safe reliable trigger. However most people "in the field" are "at the range" the "in the field" suggestion seems illegitimate. If i was truly "in the field" worrying about an actual "enemy" I would be happy to suffer with 2-6round burst. I would get it fixed upon returning to "base". I would fix it with a real select fire, fire control system offering semi, 3round, full auto...

Glad to hear it's resolved . My guess is 7k rounds-ish is the life span of the trigger . Maybe that is one of the things they fixed with the newer design . I guess we'll know in about 7k rounds .

I think you took my "in the field" a little too seriously. I mearly mean a quick fix if you want to keep shooting safely without having to send it in. It's what velocity told me to do, and it indeed worked.

They said their test trigger has 40,000+ rounds on it and is still functioning flawlessly. They stopped the test because they ran out of ammo... I didnt ask if it was the newer generation or the original design though... either way if something goes wrong with your trigger they will take good care of you

I just recently got my plinking AR-15 out to test some loads with a different powder. The Velocity trigger pull was heavier than I remembered. Everything feels heavy when all I have been shooting for months is 4 oz. triggers. Long story short. My Lyman gage consistently read a little under 4 lbs. I set it back to three. I will let you know if it doubles/triples up.
