McCormick or Timney AR trigger?

I have a Knights 2 stage 3lb trigger in my SAM-R AR now but after shooting a few 100 rds through it I feel the need for a better "Competition" style trigger in-place of the 2stage "Tactical" trigger I'm using.
I been looking at both the Timney $209 and McCormick $189 drop in triggers.
Any experiences with one or the other?

I believe in my heart that you would be better off with either of these.

I've looked at both and shot rifles with both installed. The X-Treme works well and has great feel, Just don't like a 2 stage trigger. The Geissele is really no better than the Knights trigger I have now.

I like my jewels and have enjoyed one of them for many years. They are 2 stage but thats what I like.

John Holiger at White Oak sells a tuned Rock River trigger that will work just fine for you until you reach high master. And the price is right too.

+1 on the geissele trigger. I've had both it and the jewel, and I definitely prefer the geissele. At first I didn't like two stage triggers but after shooting them for a while in competition, I found that I prefered the two stage. You take up the slack, and hold it, then do the final squeeze, and the rifle fires. The trigger also seems to "reset" faster on a two stage.

I've shot John's trigger. Well done Military style trigger. But not what I'm after. I have a AR set up for NM and It's trigger is equal to the White Oak or ERP triggers.
I only plan to use this rifle for varmints. So I'm looking for a sub 2lb super crisp trigger.

I've owned and used the Knights, Hollinger's RRA, Jewel, and Geissele in my AR's. I shoot service rifle hipower. I prefer the 2nd stage break of the Geissele the most. I have 2 stage triggers in the gas guns, Anshultz and FWB rifles. I can see why you'd want that 2# single stage trigger for varmint or "bench" shooting, but a light single stage trigger in a gas gun would be prone to doubling or bump firing as the action recoils and reloads. Thats one of the reason why SR rules require 4.5# triggers to minimize that.
