Varget vs H4895....

At Sportsman's Warehouse I paid $27.99 plus tax for the IMR 4895, so the $35 seems high. I have some old H322 still with the price sticker of $14.99 from the 1990s.

I love looking at the online prices at all the normal outlets. Powder prices around $25 or so but OUT OF STOCK notices after all these prices.

Then, when you see some powder IN STOCK, the price is $35 or so.

Just wait. When the powder supplies return in quantity you can pretty much bet that the prices will be in the "Thirty's".

Well, competition just might cause prices to come down somewhat. But who orders powder online anyway, what with the HazMat surcharges?

I for one order online. I look ahead to my needs for at least the next year and order accordingly. My last order was over 50# of powder and primers with the Hazmat fee only $27.50 which got spread over each pound of powder and box of primers.

When I pay less than $20/lb for powder and the local shop wants $30 or more, I can offset the cost of the Hazmat fee with the first three pounds of powder.

People let the fear of the "Hazmat Fee" cloud their thinking. Those that think ahead and yet only buy what they will use in a given period of time save money. That's why they not only save money by ordering online but they don't have to stand in line at 7:30 AM waiting for their local Cabela's to open up so they MIGHT find a pound of powder they can use.

In my case the hazmat fee is around $0.50 per "unit" and the savings from not having to pay the atrocious Sales Tax in my home State more than offsets the cost of shipping.

The answer to your question is more appropriately "Who doesn't order online if they shoot more than a pound of powder per year"?

Just curious, where do you find powder for less than $20/lb?
