USPS -- Slow Deliveries

I had a item get lost at a hub, they did 2 investigations. Both times I got a "Investigation Complete" statement and that was it. No explanation of what they found or what I should do. Its getting worse with all these outfits starting the shipment out from Amazon or whatever then finishing with USPS, adds a few extra days from when they estimated delivery.

I checked on a second package this evening. It made it from Spokane, WA to Iowa in 24 hours, but took 30 more to get to Kansas City which is only 5 hours away.
It has been sitting there for at least 24 hours..
I mentioned my 2 issues to a friend this evening. He said the Kansas City hub has one of, if not the worst reputation in the postal service. Based on the 2 latest issues for me, I can believe it.

Vegas to Phoenix drive time is 5 hours. WOA barrel took 8 days to get here shipped priority USPS.

Waiting on a pkg I need ASAP.
Seems it made it half way, then reversed direction.
From ND to NY in route to Al.
Then from NY to IA. ???

You are not alone.

I moved from USPS to UPS and have been very happy with the service as of the last couple years.

Problem is UPS and Fed Ex will not ship a lot of firearm related items like stocks, barrels, actions or firearms themselves from individuals. They changed their rules a few years ago. You can send them if they don’t check the package but you will never get any reimbursement if it’s lost or stolen.

When all these numb nuts get kicked out of USPS they go to work at your local eating establishment to screw up your order
Or it could be the other way around.

I had problems at the ups hub not wanting to ship guns. They started insisting it had to go from ffl to ffl. I showed them the were incorrect and they finally said it was THEIR policy. They really balked at shipping some guns worth over 10,000. Went to usps and no issues for a long while. Now you'd get better odds in Vegas over the odds your package will be delivered on time and undamaged. Don't know who to trust anymore!!

Yup UPS and Fed Ex policies both changed around 2022 I believe it was. If you have to ship then Shipmyguns.com works to send it through UPS as it’s using their FFL. They will both still ship scopes though but anything else it’s a no go.

Since dejoy was appointed head of the usps it's been a cluster!! Get used to it. Do you expect the new head to do any different?
I had to call Anthem BCBS yesterday as I haven't received my monthly premium. The person I spoke to said they mailed my premium notice 14 days ago!! They said, a new premium notice will be sent to me. (My payment is due December 1st!!!)

Waiting for a package is like sitting in traffic. If you're in a hurry, nothing's getting there any sooner. Even with higher cost, Amazon is sometimes a better option.

Was there ever a time when packages moved quickly through the USPS?
Wasn’t this the reason or part there of for founding UPS. Then Fred Smith takes UPS on with FEDEX. Then all three have gone sour.
Funny, when I was a kid I don’t really remember too many people ordering anything that was actually delivered by any means. But there had to be. Maybe no where near the volume of today of course.
I guess AMAZON gave up on all 3 to a huge extent.

Must be difficult to have no on paper felons handling/delivering firearms with any of the shipping companies. So much social media pressure on companies to hire by anything but qualifications.

I am 74 years old and have shipped many things via the big three for a long time. I gave up on USPS for anything but small, easily replaced items. USPS is a direct model of the federal and many state government organizations. Worst part of all is they can't remember from day to day what the rules of shipping are. Come in one day and they say one thing, come in a day later and talk to the same person and get a different story or excuse. And trying to find anything that is lost or late, regardless of how you shipped it, is an absolute joke. I never, ever ship a long gun via USPS as it is sure to be lost or delayed somewhere.

Now, on the other hand I have had pretty good luck with FedEx lately, not perfect, but pretty good. I almost never deal with UPS from my end, but a lot is delivered to me by them. My one desire is to have all of these people get the rules of the game straight in their heads. Last I knew, none of these shippers have the local authority to arbitrarily change the rules of shipping on their own. If it is one way in Milwaukee it should be the same in Des Moines. I pushed that issue once with a UPS outlet and they lost in their understanding of the "rules", but I still didn't use that outlet after that and went to FedEx instead.

I have never had anything of real value lost with any of the shippers. It was maybe delayed or missing for a few days, but the items were eventually located. Mother Nature is one of the big stumbling blocks in these deliveries systems so you have to keep an eye on storms going thru areas where you are shipping something. I once had a S&W Model 52 that I was shipping to Clark Custom get waylaid in Memphis because of heavy rains and flooding. It sat in Memphis for the better part of 10 days in a trailer before they found it for me via a lot of pressure at my post office. Persistence can be your friend at times, but never anger. That just shuts people down.

I received a birthday card in Dayton from my cousin in Toledo, [150 miles] on November 2 that she mailed on October 21. She could have walked it here in less time and she is 89.

There was a time that I gave some level of confidence to estimated shipping/delivery dates. That time is long past. Now I don't even view estimates as wishful thinking, figuring whatever I ordered will get here when (if?) it does. And when (if?) it does arrive I thank the Lord.
