USPS again..

6.5 forever

Silver $$ Contributor
I got some bolt work completed by LRI last week. My bolt was shipped back to me on Tuesday by PRIORITY mail (2-3 day delivery). Today is day 4 and it 300 miles FURTHER away than when they shipped it from Sturgis. Grrrrr

You should be happy it wasn't shipped via Guam. Yes as in the middle of the Pacific Guam.

I've had that happen once and our youngest did as well about a year earlier. Weeks later we finally get our order... That said, FedEx and UPS aren't any better, at least the USPS shipments usually show up eventually. The other two apparently have a lot of theft because lots of folks talk about stuff that's lost and they can't find it, ever. We've experienced the same.

I ship something almost daily by USPS. Yes I've had a couple f**kups, but not near like UPS or Fedex.
Same here. A rare screwup but all in all, it's only the end of the world when it's yours. Lol! It's actually pretty damn remarkable how often they get it right. Can't say it's 100% but I bet they have in the tenths of a percentage point or less that get messed up, overall and including all mail. Oh junk mail...1000%

If it was a can of cleaner or package of cleaning patches, no problem.....
But a bolt to a pet rifle, no no no. Lol

I had a package travel a circle between Indy, South Bend and Granger four times. After the 4th round I talked to the local post office and they were able to intersept the package. I examined the address and didn't see anything wrong with the address.

I shipped a rest from KY to MO, he paid extra for 2-3 day service. 12 days later it arrived, I had gone to the PO with video of it being picked up but not scanned, ended up going to PO showing supervisor the video and telling him I was taking video to police to report theft, in less than 30 minutes it started showing tracking info, it sat for 4 days in Lexington and never moved.

The USPS is s typical gov't entity, ie a disaster. I could fill this page with instances just in the last 60 days. When you fill positions by entitlement this is where you end up. It's in our medical system also, you know, were people die. I currently have a package on an eight day journey from NJ to Pa. Currently it's on hold in Ohio. But the idiots in the Cnogress and the Senate will give them another raise in rates in July and people keep voting for the same Congressman and Senators term after term. People are STUPID.

Anything that won't fit in a flat rate box. If shipped priority, will almost always arrive late. I shipped a SEB rest to Washington state. 3 weeks. There are no guarantees with priority mail. They never admit fault. That rest went into Los Angeles before hdg north. It added 1000 miles to transit. USPS is horrible!

I got an email from usps saying that my packages were delivered at 2:40 pm, they were not! A new pair of eyeglasses and 300 Berger bullets. The next morning I drove the 25 miles to the PO to find out where they were. They didn't know. I lost my temper and asked the postmaster why she hired carriers that couldn't read, and she said that's all they can get.....A couple f bombs later I left and came home. I got the packages at noon that day with no explanations.

This is just one example of many. I guess that's why we have the saying close enough for government work...
Fed Ex is only marginally better, but UPS is actually adequate in our area.

I had a brass package go to Barrigada Guam before finding it's way to WA. Funny thing is, as a team member for the solid state ILS install at Anderson AFB in '79 & early '80, I spent 6months at the Barrigada Transmitter site because there was no billeting available on base.

Bought Ken Water's Pet Loads vols 1 & 2 from a member here, package went to 2 local towns and a 3rd across the border in ID before finally arriving in my mail box. The postal distribution center is 18mi from me.
