Using my Lee .222 Collet Die

rocketvapors picture shows how it is able to squeeze below the mouth of the case, from the front side of the picture, the backside of the picture looks good though, but may be decieving, when trying to adjust to squeeze a little more neck of the case. with my thin shim fixed on my shell holder now it cant do that. i keep my squeeze right to the end of the mouth. and able to shuck cases, the squeeze still stays above the shoulder about a 1/16 of a inch but my bullet base isnt down that far when loaded. they fit the chamber nice. i could get just a touch more if the collet didnt have that taper on top. the bergers that im using dont need it though. rocketvapor thank you for the picture. just want to add to tesros comment, my wilson gauge is handy. and i have a redding when needed. if i figure out how to do pictures iwill show some paper at 150 yds.

The picture is misleading. Without the mandrel the case can tilt.
Here is another pic showing the .223 type collets I have.

With the 22N neck being longer than the .223/5.56 I modified one by shortening the collet AND mandrel to size all of the 22N neck.
I have a 22-250 collet die that could probably be shortened, a lot, to fit the 22N.
Might even be an option to MAKE an old style 223 collet.
Other options could be a 222 collet with a long enough neck but a shim would be needed since the case length is short,
or
the 222 Mag that has enough neck length but would also need to be shortened, if it was available.

All cases are 22 Nosler, trimmed to 1.760".

Couldn't find 222mag either.
I have a new style 223, and old style 223, a modified old style for my 22N, a 22-250 that I have not modified yet, and just ordered a 222 Rem from midway, just for the heck of it.
All of them together come out to less than the Custom fee for a 22N LCD.

Grinding down the 22-250 collet to 22N dimensions.
Almost there with 0.120" removed. Will have to washer up the mandrel or grind it off like I did to another one. I also use the 22N for 22 Nosgar made from heavier 6mm Hagar brass. Web is thicker.

Pictures of brass when I'm done.
Should also be able to make a 223 die that sizes the whole neck with this $23 (Free Shipping) die.

Almost done on left, Finished DIY 22N LCD on Right

your top far left picture is the whole key to starting out with a collet die, seeing where your at before you begin. with your shellholder that your going to use.
