USB Borescope from Amazon

Thought i'd post some pictures of the $18.50 USB borescope available from amazon:

It has LEDs that light the camera. There is a wheel adjustment for the LED brightness. I find that shining a flash light down the muzzle end gives you a slightly better picture. Overall the image quality is a bit poor (focus is about 1/4" away) but it will show you carbon / copper fouling and probably throat erosion.

The pictures below are from my 24" .308WIN Benchmark Barrel. It has 3R rifling and a 1:10 twist. Currently there is around 1300 rounds through it. Seems to be showing some wear on the shoulder area but other than that its fine. Still shooting strong.

The only thing I see ? Is it looks like your chamber is not cut centered with the bore .
Did you get the 90 deg mirror with it ? It helps . With Lymans borecam for $230 . It's a worth while investment . I've got the Hawkeye , 3 of the Amazon specials , and a Acutel . Modified they all work as good as the Lyman , but modifying them requires times , expertise , and patience .
The least expensive , easiest mod to kind you have is to make a 1/2 extension that will acomadate the mirror . Again you want the mirror about 1/2" from the end . It limits your field of view , but it's sharp focused pic .

You're seeing an offset view which is why the bore doesn't look concentric to the chamber. This isn't a $230 camera, it's an $18 camera.

Yes I know , I've got a few of them as mentioned in posts from 3-4 yrs ago . I was politely pointing out the near useless pictures that aren't in focus . It lead you to assume light wear on shoulders . Which by the way I've never encountered in 35+ years of riflesmithing . 15 of which having a real Borescope .
The Amazon specials are hit or miss in function , but can be made to work almost as good as the Lyman borecam . But , it's only worth it if you can do it yourself . When the Lyman came out ,it eliminated the need for a portable , less fragile Borescope . I had many of the Amazon specials , even the one you have , had to return 2 just because the camera was off center and field of view was crescent shape . It is a $20 camera that can be upgraded to near Lyman specs but it's no longer worth the time .
Try the 90 deg mirror with the extension ( you have to make the adapter )
