UPS Transfers Package to Local Post Office for Delivery?

Stuff all your junk mail in there postmarked self addressed envelopes and send it back stuffed every time..

That is a brilliant idea!

I always pick UPS, because I have had issues with the postal service loosing stuff. With UPS, and can track the shipment, and it sits somewhere longer than expected, I can call and poke em along. With USPS, you'll have to wait to see if it's not going show up.

I have stopped buying from Midway. Their shipping prices have completely got out of hand. Last time I bought from them, the shipping and handling was nearly 20 bucks on an item that didn't even cost that much.

I watch the tracking and ups holds it in Illinois for 2 days..midways shipping has seemed better priced as of late...they use to charge me way to much for small items

The problem I have with this is that I have a "My Choice" account with UPS. This allows me to reroute my UPS packages to a local UPS store for secure pick up at MY convenience rather than - 1) Have a package sit on my porch unsecured for possibly days, or 2) Miss a package that needs a signature because I am NEVER at my residence to sign.

I can not reroute a SURE POST package without another fee on top of the yearly fee I already pay.

I do not like it and think it's another way to save money and pass of the expense and risk to the customer.

For me UPS destroy's it, never had a problem with USPS. Two broken stocks, one on the rifle, broken front rest, boxes with tire tracks on them. dumped over the gate in the rain.

lol!

I know it's not funny to you, but I was cracking up about the tire tracks!

You have to wonder how stuff can get that beat up in shipping. I've received things from every carrier that I swear the only way to obtain that much damage is to intentionally hammer the shit out of it!

I had some bottom metal and follower and spring that showed being dropped at the post office in the a.m. so instead of waiting I stopped there at 9am and grabbed it..

Around here its tied into updating your address with the P.O. UPS And Fed Ex seem to transfer the stuff about 140 miles away to USPS if your not current you don't get it. They don't bother to route it this direction.

I wondered about this practice as well. I don't have a beef with the USPS, but I live in the City and the UPS drives by my house every day. The only thing the transfer has accomplished is delaying my receipt of the shipment by a couple days. since it is so inefficient, the government must be behind it :D

I love this idea and might have even done so....... after shredding first of course.

Have lots of experience with this hand off type delivery and for me, it adds a two day delay to receiving the package.

What gripes me is this arrangement is not advertised up front, I seem to only find that its being delivered this way after I've made the purchase. Usually find out when I look at tracking and knowing the package was supposed to have been delivered based on previous day tracking, its becomes obvious that UPS "delivered" package to USPS, not me. Amazon seems to use this a lot......

Surepost , Smartpost, and what ever else they want to call it. It sucks!!!! I've had packages take 3 days to 10 days using that garbage. I like the usps flat rate priority boxes. 1 to 2 days shipping for less money.

IIRC it is UPS sure post. Midway has that and it states in the description USPS final delivery. It is a little cheaper than UPS. So not unusual or cheated. Midway gives you like 5 shipping options and YOU chose. Usually when I order I get my package on the 3rd day(counting day I ordered as day 1). So that is fast shipping in my mind. I live in South Georgia

when you checkout- where it says "sure post" - hit the edit button and you can have it sent however you like. It's up to you.

Have had the same thing happen here and I also have a UPS delivery and pick up daily at my office, so it makes no sense at all. USPS service in this area is terrible and once it gets to USPS, the tracking is nearly useless. Makes me mad every time it happens that way, and it is FAR more likely to be damaged or lost with USPS.

And since I've always been a stickler for fast shipping, we're working hard to get it out quickly. quote from Larry Potterfield...

I guess the key words in Larry's quote is, "..get it out quickly..." means get it out of his store quickly. Not get it to you quickly.

I'm going to send him a revision. It's going to go something like this. "...working hard to get it out quickly, and get your money quickly...and don't give a rat's *** how long it takes to get to you...."

I haven't bought a thing from Potterfield in over a year since they shipped an item to me via USPS and it took 18 days to Florida. Showed up in the mailbox, finally and I haven't been back since. Oh, and I paid extra for 2 day shipping. The 'young' clown I talked to basically asked why I was upset since I got it anyway? But back to OP, this is a common practice now.

I've seen a few of Midways DIY vids featuring Larry . I would trust Harry Potterfields advice on gunsmithing before Larry's.

UPS/FEDEX and another company or three have deals set up w/the USPS to deliver their packages for the last 10 years at least that I know of. Usually small-midsized ones.

What I don't understand is, when I had Midway send it either USPS or UPS, I always got it in two days. Now its 7 or 8 with the "smartpost".
