UPS Stores

hell,I'm going to start shipping stuff out of my shop,box your own stuff up,I make the labels right here,got a UPS account already,charge small fee.Don't even have to set
up pick up,save some that way,,I got my drivers phone number,,come on down,rents due,,Capt. Dan

Let me know how it goes when you go to collect on the insurance on a lost shipment, and they balk at paying $2000 for 'optical device'.

Hell, most places I've shipped thru, when you start wanting to insure for that kind of value they want to know *exactly* WTF is in there, and don't accept anything that sounds like complete BS...

I Have shipped & insured for over $5000.00 using 'Precision Machined metal Parts" - No Muss, no Fuss, But it helps that I'm liked by the UPS counter persons at my local UPS Service Center. - I tote anything heavy for them to the shipping area & I treat them with respect. (Thank You Mam & Have a Nice day etc.) - Never had any trouble, And Never yet (knock on wood) had to file a claim.

got a FFL we can do firearms too,we just stay away from Kaplen

I've shipped quite a bit through UPS stores. But, through creative descriptions, lie LA50Shooter, I have shipped:
shotgun barrels = pipe
barreled actions= sealed pipe
scopes=optical devices
ammo=lead and brass
bullets= lead and copper pieces
cases =brass containers
and probably other items I've forgotten about

I used to tell them for bullets...Machined metal inserts!

True story. About 3 months ago I was shipping a package for my daughter at the local UPS store. While I was waiting in line the elderly gentleman ahead of me was trying to mail some wooden pistol grips. The clerk would not take them because they were part of a firearm.

Actually, I had a Swarovski shipped back to the factory. It arrived nearly folded in half. Swarovski emailed and called me and told me what happened. They filed the claim for it in my name and sent me a new, replacement scope and the check in return.

Sure, with a major manufacturer directly involved. The shipping company isn't going to risk pissing them off and losing their future business.

Have the same thing happen between two private parties, with some nebulous made-up name for the insured item... I'd be willing to bet on a very different outcome.

A close friend did six yrs for that , lost his savings , house , income and family . Real story . I've not done ANY transactions but thru an FFL .

A lot of negativity on this topic from some folks - I wish that I'd never posted on it - One I should have just left alone -

- I'm on to something more productive - To much doom & gloom over something as simple as shipping parcels..............

Had a fellow member, i just bought a scope from , try to ship me the scope at a ups store. The worker had a fit saying we can not ship any kind of gun part. What B.S.
The seller they just went to the post office.
I got to thinking alittle more on it, whlie drinking my coffee , and got a wee on the stirred up side and called the corp office.
After 15min on hold, a young clueless, kid answer the phone.
When asked why was shipping a scope a problem i was told why dose not matter it is COMPANY POLICY. I then asked about shipping a telescope he said Oh that is fine. I then asked what the difference was. He then got snarky telling me he should not and dose not, have to explain the differance to me.
Then I got mad, after a grade double AA a** chewing, i was a road crew foreman, two phone calls ,he is probably draging a hind leg. I informed them I will NEVER use there service to ship ANYTHING AGAIN.
What a sorry state our country is now in.

Rant over
ODIE
to begin with i never go to their stores because they charge way to much at them. i get a better deal at small local stores that have UPS accounts. Unfortunately the nearest UPS distribution is 40 miles. mabie i will get an account and have them pickup at my shop to.

Been shipping and receiving all manner of gun parts and components for years up until I moved last July. Did not have a problem. BTW, the owner of the Local UPS store is shooter. If I had to ship a firearm for repair, I had to take it to the local UPS Hub.

I ship firearms (long guns) as an individual at my UPS local hub. They do ask I give them (or they will make a copy) of the FFL for their records.
the only place I take firearms to is to the UPS truck at my front door,with a FFL you can do that

If you have ever shipped me anything, it went to a UPS store (in California). I get packages most every day. All of the clerks know me and chat with me. They always try to guess what my heavy packages are--barrels, bullets, etc. I have even done work for some UPS drivers.

My guess is you ran into a liberal injecting their own views.

That said, it is always expensive to ship at a 3rd party shipper like UPS store and I would never pay them to ship anything.
