I'm sorry; I give 'Dear Leader' no credit. If he was involved with this, the stand off would have ended with the terrorists headed for shore with $2 million stolen dollars and celebrating until they started out a few days later for more victims.
I am very thankful for the talents and courage of those involved operationally and the great example of this captain. It is now officially a wonderful Easter.
If they get intelligence on where these terrorists are collecting in somalia, I would send them some big explosive messages, and let there be no doubt, it was the US that sent them. They need to have the fear of God of messing with us burnt into their simple brains.

President Obama authorized the military operation which was planned by special ops and executed by Seals, which resulted in the rescue of capt. Phillips and elimination of pirates. Everyone deserves credit,including the pirates

I wondered why the military didn't just drop a bomb on the bunch and be done with it till I heard there something like 100 + hostages and a bunch of ships still being held. At least we took care of our own. :thumb:
In case you missed it on the news, the Somali pirate hostage incident has ended.
SEAL snipers eliminated all of the remaining pirates in the life boat when one of them pointed an AK47 at the Captain.
The captain is safe and sound.
Lets see how this played out...

Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside doesn't it!!!

It's a shame to be so cynical, but in my opinion, Obama just let the Navy twist in the wind until someone took the initiative to do what badly needed to be done. Then he could go either way on the outcome. If it went badly, he could just say that the Navy acted on it's own initiative and should have waited for instructions. Since it went flawlessly, he can now claim credit.
Look at it from my point of view: for 5 days he said nothing, when several possible statements could have possibly helped. Then immediately after the rescue, the predictable flood of 'information'. 17 meetings, 2 separate authorizations,why two?) press releases, phone calls to Capt. Phillips, his wife, etc.
I hope someone watches the careers of the Navy commanders involved in the chain of command. Let's see if they do well, or if they are quietly kicked to the curb. That will tell me what really happened.

Now that the hostage drama is over, don't dwell too long on the thought that AG Eric Holder gets to decide if the surviving pirate is to be tried in the U.S.,New York and Washington D.C are likely venues) or under an agreement the military has with Kenya to turn pirates over for trial in Africa.
Who do we know of who also has a history with Kenya?
Think it's possible there'll be more to the story we're not yet being made aware of?

We will never know what really happened, and no one person probably know what happened.....Chaney might but he would never admit it.
I do not see how the one living pirate can be ethically/logically prosecuted in a US court. The piracy was an international incident subject to international laws. If international laws are not going to be followed, then just give him some concrete shoes.
I miss Jefferson and Washington. This once republic of states seemed to function better when there were fewer stars on the flag.

I am not an american but I seem to know more of it's history than Obama. I was really shocked and disappointed when he stated ' america is not a christian nation'. Perhaps he needs to read a little more american history and he would see that it was really born out of 'The Great Awakening' which was a supernatural move of god on america in the period of 1730-1740. I am sure some will say they don't believe in god. However beliefs don't change reality.

Obama did the right thing by not going public with his decision until after the drama was over. He didn't ask for a vote from congress, nor did he ask for the publics approval. He showed great resolve and that's all that is important. What he can 'honestly' say is 'mission accomplished'.
Hey Canuck, Thanks for posting on Christianity and the USA's obvious link. 'Dear Leader' goes to Europe or Turkey, or wherever it was and announces that the US is not a Christian country and not a muslim country, etc. He would believe and say that because that is who he is. He is just being honest. Like when he bowed down before a muslim potentate. He was being honest. Of course the main stream media who got him elected wrote it off and paid know attention to it. They have to protect the image of what they created.
My guess is a MK11. Which is basically a Stoner SR-25 automatic rifle. Great weapon system for engaging multiple targets.
The Seals shot simultaneously while prone from the front of their vessel, striking two pirates in the head. How bout that gyroscopic sighting system which calculates movement of the boat and keeps the reticule centered on target? Maybe someone can retrofit this for my Farley! Nah - IBS would outlaw it right away.
