Turning To Air Guns

My buddy and I took our Benjiman Marauders with us on a prarie dog shoot last spring his is a 25 cal. Shooting 25.39 JSB Diablos He shot 27 pds longest was 75yds. He was dead on the spot. Mine is a 22. I was shooting 20.5g slugs with aftermarket balance valve running slugs at 875 I shot 16. Longest hit was 95 yards. Knocked him over but made it back to his hole. They are fun, accurate and quiet. The slugs are the way to go for long range. For serious slug shooting you may need a barrel specific for slugs.

The benjamin trail xl caught my eye a while back but I'm not sure what I should expect from it. Forums say the hold is everything.

If all I wanted to do is target practice to 25 yards or less, easy choice HW30 in .177.

But I just searched the web and there are none to be found. But hw, fx, AA, top tier Beeman, the European makers both East and West are pretty good. Even top of the line Gamo, which I think is now called Cometa, from Spain has some good stuff.

Tell us more about why you chose this gun.

Mine is a RAW HM1000x and they were at that time being made in Tennessee about an hour from where I live. I have a Beeman Super 12, that is just a rebranded Theoben MKII, that I have had for ten years now. It's a laser out to 50 yards and I like the simplicity and power. RAW is the American made Theoben of old with some nice refinements. RAW is now owned by AirForce air guns and Martin just builds custom guns and repairs RAW and Theoben air rifles. The HM1000x is a hammer and out to 75 yards and it will hold it's own with any air rifle or 22lr benchrest gun to that distance.

If you are looking for a springer try Krale located the Netherlands. I recently purchased a Weinrauch 97k from them. I saved over $250 over the US price and no tax and $34 shipping. I received it in 3 days. They’re a class outfit.

Same here, though my shipping was $57.
If it comes tomorrow like tracking says, mine will be three days from ordering also. Amazing!

I’ve been thinking about an air rifle for a long time. Been watching a guy down in South Africa using an FX rifle. Dude is deadly.

I don’t know how they do it. It took Pyramid Air a week to get my pellets from Ohio to Alabama. I shot my Weinrauch 97K today at 40 yards for the first time. The two shots at the bottom are sighters and then a ten shot group from a sand bag. The rifle is better than I am. Good luck with yours.

Oh, that looks sweet! Any recommendations on which pellets to look for accuracy-wise?
Forgot to mention, I ordered .22 caliber. What is yours?
