Local Gunstore Inventory Discussion

Gouging or laws of supply and demand?

Prices need to keep going up to discourage hoarding and opportunistic resellers. People are buying whatever they can find just to use it as trade fodder for what they do want.
It's 'gouging' if you're a buyer; 'supply and demand' if you're a seller.

Mfg's of toilet paper and paper towels can't even keep up with "demand." Do we have that many new "B" holes to wipe?
As far as ammo goes, these suppliers failed! That is it in a nut shell. They were not watching demand ( sales of guns, etc) and did not respond. The stock price of Vista Outdoors in 1 years time has risen from $7 to $32... Now you tell me how fat the owners of that stock ( CEO's, CFO's etc) are with a 357% increase. All this BS about investment and MBA's and bla bla bla is nonsense.. They missed the ball...

Just because a stock increased 357% doesn't mean the company has that money on hand or even the borrowing power some think goes with it.

That stock could tank back to $7 or less in the short order.

I was at a outdoor store the other day. They said that there are about 8000 primers a week showing up. Very low but some. Turns out that the same group of guys are there before the store opens every morning to buy what came in. They are limiting sales to 500 primers to each person. Their inventory is gone before they ever get through the line of people who were there before the store opened. Frankly I don't know how they are getting any primers. With the ammo shelves empty those components should be dedicated to building product. Not that I buy factory ammo, I don't but most people do. In numbers that dwarf the reloading community.
was it a mom and pop, or big like cabelas??

My point exactly as I stated above, when demand goes away the stock pile price drops. Near me there is a Menard's store that has pallets and pallets of toilet paper and for awhile it was buy one get one free deal. Demand went away but the supply was there.... just going to be a lot longer for ammo and supplies.

Most gun stores in my area are closed they mostly offer FFL services. So sad.
It's sad that this is what it's coming to.
The gun store I was at last week looked to have more slips on the board for transfers than rifles or shotguns in the racks. While I was waiting for the clerk to finish entering my info another fellow came in to do a transfer.
