Tubbs Final Finish and TMS systems

The recomendations from D. Tubb are to use the FFS for factory barrels and the TMS system for hand lapped barrels. Those who have used these products, what has been your experiences? I read at least one barrel manufacturer who will not honor the guarantee if abrasive products are used in their barrels.

I guess the question is, who's barrel are you looking to do? If it's a quality lapped barrel, I probably wouldn't mess with it. I have used the Tubb bullets on a non-lapped barrel & they did a good job. Much easier to clean & I picked up some accuracy.

Did my Kimber .22 LR and now the bore is super slick. A little more accurate to. Hope this helps. Paul.

I use the TMS's to break in barrels and shoot 2 about every 300 rounds, give or take a few. Makes short work of breaking in a barrel and have seen no detrimental issues using these rounds. I load them with the lightest published load info. My 308 has about 2500 rounds and it still shoots under 1/2 MOA without trying hard.

I'm not sure what type of throat maintenance you want to accomplish but I wouldn't do anything but keep the rifle clean , especially if you don't have a bore scope to monitor your results . I wonder how many that have posted on this so far have a borescope ? I have a bore scope , and have tried fire lapping on some factory barrels , and it did nothing but accelerate the throat wear . You can accomplish more with JB bore paste and a tight fitting brush and patch !
