Tried a PCP air rifle for the first time.

Well I dont have a decent springer. My Gamo just sux. That forward recoil takes some getting used to. I think a scope that will focus may help a lot
Helps if you can see. Get yourself a TX200 or HW97. There is a learning curve. A D54 is a bit easier to learn to shoot as the sled system built into it makes it much less hold sensitive. I a9m shooting under 2 inches at 100 yrs with my 54 in .22. Gamo is like hunting with a spear. At the upper end of the PCP game they are not to far off competing with powder burners at 100 yards. But when the poop gets blown around, all I need is pellets.

I can do minute of squirrel at 30 I believe with the gamo. They are constantly after the black walnuts which are plentiful in my yard. In such a situation I will be eating the nuts as well.

50yds this morning 45deg, 2000psi (down 1000 from full fill) same unsorted Crossman pellets from Walmart. The one circled shot I pulled when my daughter open the door beside me does not affect group size.

So I weighed a sample of 25 this morning and weight was 14.1gn to 14.6 with most 14.2-14.5gn. One outlier was 12.7 as it had a portion of its skirt missing. I may do a visual and weight sort as one would bullets and repeat.

No one at our matches uses crossman. JSB and Air Arms are the top choices. Most weigh sort and some do head size to get rid of the anomalies. About half of us lube pellets. I do not do head size, I don't trust the available options to do so. I would think these results might be options for you to try. Are you using wind flags, I see a lot of horizontal. I treat the air gun shooting the same as shooting my powder burners.

I own a Marauder 25 cal I bought in 2014. It has the synthetic stock. I have only shot two tins thru it.

I have not used it much, but recently I noticed when I charge it and release the pressure on the fill tank, the guage dropped 200 plus PSI till the gun valve sealed. Over the last few days it lost 400 more.

I looked for a "rebuilder" and saw that no one seems to work on fisrt gen, only second. Im not sure what gen mine is. I guess the half-life on these is short.

I am open to solutions.

Not trying to derail the thread. Maybe someone can suggest a good hunting gun in 25 caliber that won't kill my budget, or maybe a marauder upgrader?

Have you tried contacting Crossman direct? Otherwise, Archer airguns shows a marauder fill assembly for ~$26. Does not distinguish between first Gen or later, it seems. Is the .25 special in itself?

I don't know. I am learning....

Scroll down a bit and it states they are a Benjamin service center. Super helpful guy and will call you back. Talked to me for a long time before I ever purchased anything.

The mrod is really easy to work on. Orings can be purchased at most hardware stores, and their are only a few main orings to check for the leak. You just need to make sure it's completely empty of air before you start taking it apart

These things are FUN and picky ; ) My boys and I have tried just about every brand of pellets and slugs out there and it's honestly wild to see the difference between the guns and the ammo but we consistently come back to the H&N as being the smaller groups out at 50 and 100 yards from our guns. 22's come in 5.50. 5.51 and 5.52 mm head diameter. Our guns like the 5.52 better. JSB monsters shoot good but the h&n's are just a hair better with virtually no flyers like we get with the jsb's. To each their own but try, try, try different ammo and have a blast doing it! 40 yards is a good starting point. inside of that it's hard to see much of a difference. We really enjoy shooting these targets1699281086448.png

Received the fill adapter yesterday as well as the AA 16 pellets. Had an issue at the fire department so I wasn't able to shoot but I did get to grab a air tank to try out filling rifle. Finally got it to fill but I had to tighten it much more than the actual air pack fittings. Of course this is the main issue with most reviews, but I did get it filled to about 2900psi and stopped there. The reviews are correct in that the full adapter is profiled incorrect to fit the Scott cga347 fitting on the bottle. The oring doesn't seat past the safety holes on the bottle fitting. Hopefully I can try it this afternoon with the AA pellets but rain is in the forecast and we honestly need the rain more than I need to shoot as people's springs are drying up.
