Curious what folks are reloading with for Springfield Trapdoors and Sharps rifles these days?
I have some brass, dies, 405gr shooters choice hard cast, primers, etc.
The majority of my shooting will be range plinking, but I'm also not opposed someday to shooting a whitetail or even a ranch buffalo someday down the road.
Any and all comments greatly appreciated. Looking to come up with a recipe fairly soon as my dad is breathing down my neck to shoot this "new" gun. HaHA Thanks everyone.

- What smokeless powders? Black powder?
- Do folks still use a case filler of some sort with smokeless powders?
Back up 20+ years ago and I bought a Taylors & Co./Armisport Sharps 1874. I did reload for it a little bit, I want to say I used 4198 of some sort, and either polyfill batting or corn cob media to fill the dead space. I remember the whole process being a pain in the butt, and ended up shooting green box Remington factory ammo, for what little I shot it. Bought a couple trapdoors a short time later, but only ever shot factory black hills cowboy ammo. Both those trapdoors are gone, but I bought another one recently.
