Trail camera pics

This fellow never showed up during daylight hours. You can't see her, but a doe is just to the left of the propane tank. He's looking at the camera because I turned the microphone on and started talking to him.

Oh, and this is the night before opening day of gun season in Kentucky.

Time to get the trap in the background up and running.

You can't kill them fast enough to put a dent in the population.

Do the folks around there eat the pigs ? I get mixed reviews around our area, we don't have many wild pigs except on a few private ranch's and a lot of the landowners just shoot and leave them saying they are like eating a skunk or coyote as they're scavengers, others eat them and say just a little more lean than regular pigs. Just interested in other areas what happens.

Generally speaking the females are good eating, as well as the smaller males (less than 75 - 100 lbs). Yes, they are much leaner than a domestic hog, which I prefer.

If they pass the sniff test and smell like a barnyard hog, you're good-to-go. If they don't; off to the boneyard to feed the buzzards.

We split and smoke the smaller hogs, grind most into sausage, make hams occasionally and give a bunch to local families in need.
