Tractor Shot

13 years ago somebody took a shot at our house from the road 356 yards away, up and in back of our house. We had just moving into our house after a dispute with our contractor who walked out and forced me into mediation and completing the work myself. The contractor really had to eat it - commitments made to subs and workers did not happen and other jobs had been started without them. Any how, I was watching Fox News when I heard a sound like a plate falling off a shelf and breaking on the floor. Subsequently, I discovered a bullet hole in the screen and window of our sunroom. It turned out to be a 123 grain 7.62X39 bullet. It had penetrated the screen and window, turned sideways, and struck the inside of a heavy vinyl window frame on a side wall. I found a still hot bullet on the floor. The bullet missed my wife, in the kitchen, by 6 feet.

I made additional property improvements that increased our value/investment.

I had a nice desk job in Viet Nam and only suffered from 3 incidents but this equaled any of them - same caliber.

OT, Wild Wild East, yep Philly again and that's #72 shell casing laying on the ground. When they have shootouts, they make the gunfight at the ok corral look tame.

Sorry to see this.

This kind of stuff makes me angry. You work hard for the things and place we are in and someone, most probably that has absolutely nothing and nothing to loose acts irresponsibly and you pay the price.

Did you find what was causing the issue on your tractor?

Simple advancements in technology over single action revolvers back then - 72 empties would require 12 shooters and laborious ejection of empties or fewer shooters and laborious reloads. Technology has improved the effectiveness of sociopaths. Any shot gun hulls with little numbered flags?

I was at my gun club last week when a fella comes up and asks about a membership. We talked, in the course of it all this is what he tells me. He has shut down shooting at his house, he has a very generous size berm backstop. He lives in a similar area like myself were we can shoot at our houses. He was in his shop over a year ago and he heard gunfire from close by, ended up being next door, new neighbors, 3 days. He is going to go talk to them because he knows they don't have a backstop. His wife comes out about that time just as he's starting to walk off. They are six feet apart, and she catches one above her hips, over one hip and out the other side above the other hip. The bullet ended up in the shop area, it came from a AK47. She almost lost her life. What a mess, the story and conversation is way longer than this. I feel badly for this woman. That bullet traveled about 250 yards thru the trees.

A good law firm and she'll own that adjacent property plus a pile of money and those "neighbors" will be persons prohibited.

This is what you get with a lack of law enforcement and lots of cheap ammo discharged by people who place no value on another persons life.

Well I guess we are opposites, i want to shoot my tractor. We have been getting so much rain that the tractor had almost turned black from all the stuff growing on it, So i got out the brush, sponges and a bucket and washed it. I guess i got some moisture in the bell housing and the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel. Battery was to low to start it in gear and i am waiting on the charger to do its thing then its the wild ride.

I was in my early 20's and had left home is why/when I learned that we parked the tractor and most everything else with a battery on a hill!!! Also by then I understood at the top of the hill was better than the bottom. o_O Kinda hard cranking to get it to the top!....but least I never got run over as much.;)

That is if you have hills. Around here a dump truck load of sand in the back yard is called a hill.

I've never understood the value of using traffic signs as targets. I hate that your tractor became the victim of unintended consequences. Some people are just stupid. We witness that daily.

She’s a 2955. Put new tires on it brakes and front hyd pump recently. Great riding and pulling tractor. Built in Germany. About early or mid 1980.
Those are a tough old tractor. They were made from 87 to 92

Yours a 4wd?

I took off the fuel line at the fuel pump and found debris. Blew out the line and she started and ran. I haven’t put it under a load yet but I suspect that’s it. Thanks
