That's a real possibility that I've only read about and have never experienced. Maybe!Thoroughly clean your sizing die and start over. Is it possible that you used a different lube on prior cases? Different lubes don't play nice with each other. Been there.
About every 500 rounds or so I use a good carb cleaner and then dry them really well, takes care of any wax build up.Years ago, RCBS said in their news letter - Wax case lubes are the main cause of people returning there fl dies, to remove stuck brass.
Avoid the waxie build up.![]()
I had the same thing happen as the OP with imperial. I changed lubes and the issue went away. It rarely happened but did happen twice as i recall. It was as iff the case was dry but had plenty of lube.I do not believe your issue is due to the lube. "Imperial Case Lube" assuming you mean Imperial Sizing Wax, in my experience, is one of the best if not the best lubes on the market IF applied correctly. I have literally sized thousands of cases with it and never had a stuck case or difficulty sizing a case. You don't need to go into the weeds on the lube issue.
You said sizing was fine with Redding Die. Unless I am missing something, which is possible in my advanced age, the problem seems straight forward: "it's the die"! Use the Redding Die! Problem solved.
Previously used a Redding full size die with no similar problem.
How do you fix your chamber?I contacted SAC, and I took some measurements of fired brass. I learned that my chamber is too large. I will get this fixed.
I should also mention that SAC's response was timely and very helpful. Good customer service.
Have to have it set back and rechambered. How do you fix your chamber?
If you have a Redding FL die that works as it should with your "out of SAC spec" chamber then just use the Redding and hold off on the set b ack until you need to set it back. If the barrel is displaying the accuracy you are happy with there isn't any need to "fix" it.Have to have it set back and rechambered.
That's the plan. How are you doing Jerry? I hope you're doing well.If you have a Redding FL die that works as it should with your "out of SAC spec" chamber then just use the Redding and hold off on the set b ack until you need to set it back. I am still on top of the ground instead of beneath. That's the plan. How are you doing Jerry? I hope you're doing well.
Thanks, that makes sense.Have to have it set back and rechambered.
