Too many midrange cleans!

Ok im comming out! Where?
I'm in Michigan I just looked and don't see many Fclass 600 yard events saw one in Sept 2022 about 3 hours north of me. I would have to go in cold with zero 600 yard shots taken. I don't have any 600 yard ranges near me to practice on.
I'd start looking here:

The above list may be a little outdated, but many of the ranges seem to still be in business/open. Hopefully, that is true of the ones listed in MI. The only other club I know about in MI is Washtenaw Sportsmans Club in Ypsilanti, which has a 600 yd range.

I find it interesting that what has been done for years is being challenged and in my opinion the day that you have 2 perfect scores then the system needs refined. My advice is that you always bring lots of extra ammo for a shoot off in case of a ties. But you don't have any problem until those ties are perfect scores on a regular basis.

When regular perfect scores happen then the test no longer sufficiently challenges the technology and skill.

There are a smallish group of guys in F-Class that I’d call “Letter X” capable, which would simply be encircling the Letter X. On a clam day, they could hit that sub ring, unnervingly often.

These are exceptionally nice guys, make no mistake. However, Clifford the Big Red Dog is also nice as can be, there is simply not much room left in the house, because his glandular condition let him grow unchecked.

I think we can see where smaller targets would lead the Cliffords of this world. While they may still shoot some 9’s in the wind, their scores would soar with smaller targets, relative to regular old “X-ring” aspirers.

In Fclass? Got the score sheet?
Nope I don’t have a score card, the shoot off was for the medals. you kept your original score for the aggregate. They only had fclass one year I think it was called the Great Lakes match. The nationals was scheduled for there but it was changed.
The relay shoot off was normal procedure for them (10 shot) and was a spectator event after the match.

Ok I’m confused. Sounds like you are saying it’s not Fclass. If so, your point is invalid.

Spirit of America is a sling match, I believe held at Raton. Apples and oranges.

Sorry had a interruption while trying to fix it. Yes it was fclass first time at Perry. No I don’t have a scorecard for it.

The event will start with the CMP National Championships that include a 4-Man Team Match and Championship 800 Aggregate Matches.”

The NRA championships USED to be held there. Not anymore. Perry goes by CMP rules and is affiliated with that program.

Further, according to the link and picture on the link below, NRA Fclass nationals was not at Perry in 2014. Unless Perry sprouted mountains.

Thanks!
There is a 300 yard one closer to me but 600s I think I've found 3 in the state closet is Ypsilanti.

Once I shoot my first official F-class match I will come back here to change all the rules :)

Only I will be asking for larger targets :)

It was announced that it was going to be held there In the fall so they added a match to the sling nationals. They soon after changed it to Raton I think. Look I was just trying to be helpful no argument here. The shoot off was a blast I thought... hopefully someday we do have one, will be epic for the first to make it.

I've shot the SoA match a number of times, always F-class, and always in Raton. Yes, it's moved around a bit (I missed those years, obviously), as between the BERC and the NRA they've tried to f$ck things up as per usual.

Correct me if I'm wrong Monte but isn't the SoA match traditionally a sling match? Kind of like the Sierra Cup or most other regional/state matches. Sling and Class intermix.

Also, High Power shooting is separate from "sling/Fclass".

Thanks!

FWIW - there is nothing at all wrong with giving F-Class a tryout at 300 yd, if that driving distance proves more convenient for you. The target scoring rings of the 300 yd MR63FC target are slightly reduced in size (i.e. 1.42" X- ring instead of 1.5" that would be the usual ~0.5 MOA X-ring for an F-Class target), making it plenty challenging. Top competitors will drop few, if any, points and shoot high X-counts at 300 yd unless the wind conditions are really tough. In fact, shooting in a 300 yd match is a very good way to fine-tune your shooting skills for matches at longer distances, because there is so little room for error.

BEWARE - once you do this, you WILL be an F-Class shooter (i.e. hooked). That won't mean your dissenting and anarchist opinions regarding F-Class rules will be any more warmly received ;), but you will the better for the new addiction. Seriously, best of luck with it and let us know how it works out for you.
