Here is what it looked like wet patching, 10 brush strokes and two more patches. Did this twice. Still a mess as far as I am concerned.
Same load with old cleaned barrel. I adjusted seating depth for the erosion.I just watched a Brian Litz video where he states a 1/2" gun can win if the operator can drive.
So was that your best load from new barrel with the same CBTO, or did you adjust seating depth to match throat erosion?
And I thank you very much for that.Honestly, I had similar issues with a factory .260 Rem Savage barrel (though tooling marks were not so extreme). I spent a couple years wasting bullets and powder. Switched to a custom PacNor 6mmbr. That rifle went from 0.7s with lots of flyers, to shooting in the twos. My success with that barrel inspired me to create 6mmBR.com, and that's why we're all here on this Forum today, 16 years later.
