To shoot, or not to shoot, that is the question.

Paula, if that's all it takes to get you to love me, I will buy one of those old bears myself.
Are you a shooter or collector ? If your a shooter, I'd say sell it for the 3K and buy a 500.00 pistol and shoot away. The value of the 3k pistol will not increase the more it's shot. It's probably at it's maximum value with fewer shots thru it. There are many more interesting and fun pistols to shoot that cost much less and they still could be passed down to family. In the mean time, your investment paid off.

Not like they are making new ones, though wouldn't that be a kick?!
As a side note, if it's been shot, then it's been shot. It's not in "unfired" condition, and as long as it's properly maintained then it's value shouldn't change much.
And take the kids/grand kids out to shoot with it. You'll soon find out if there is any interest in passing it down as a heirloom.
