It’s the shoulder surgery that doesn’t like the recoil. I used to enjoy shooting the magnums but I really like the light recoiling rounds now. Had a 1895 Browning in 45/70 and really liked it but that was one of many stupid mistakes I have made when it was sold. I’ve had the 1903 for 12-15 years and have never fired it. Metal butt plate doesn’t look appealing for the shoulder. To answer the OP’s question, shoot the crap out of it and enjoy it. Glock’s aren’t as bad as some say. I really like them and they are as tough as nails.
