Titanium action, who makes the best

Hey guys,

Considering an ultra light build for coyote hunting. Anyone have any real world experience with the many new titanium actions on the market? I have heard good things about the Lone Peak actions. Open to any and all brands at the moment. Talk to me. Lol. The hills seem to be getting steeper every year.:D:D

Thanks, Paul

Paul, what cartridge are you thinking ? Something specific for varmints or multi purpose more deer also ? You can end up with a lightweight deer rifle too but it won't be very fur friendly if you are saving them.

I just had a rifle built with a proof barrel - Defiance action, BDL BM; Vais brake - a shade under 6 1/2 lbs without optics. And it shoots real well.

Good luck with your build.

I have a 270wsm built on a pierce titanium action and titanium recoil log with a #1barrel and cf stock. with a march scope and sling I'm 6.5lbs unloaded. Went back and looked at build sheet. #1 not #2

Paul,

I just sold a 280AI built on a Pierce. I liked it a lot. My only criticism was that it would bind if you worked the bolt hard and fast if you pushing a little out of alignment. I replaced it with a Razor TI, 7saum. This action doesn’t seem to do that even if your try, poissibly because of the nitrade coating. Both actions were very accurate.

The Pierce wore a fluted number 3 Hawkhill and it wasn’t as light as I thought it would be. With a 24inch barrel it was a bit out of balance, balance center point was between middle rifle and the forward sling swivel. I went with a number 2 on the Razor, much better and balanced perfectly.

bolt "binding" I had the same problem with a stainless DEFIANCE Defiant s/a + there was a gritty sound when the bolt was worked which after multiple polishing efforts and no interest form the manufacturer or gun builder to help.... finally sold the entire rifle. Good riddance !!!

My Pierce weighs 6 1/4 lbs with a 27" Douglas barrel and a 3x9 Zeiss. Mine has a custom Brown Precision kevlar stock. Melonite the bolt and it's slick as owl shi*t.

280AI before Melonite.
