Time to make the donuts....

6 degrees and 30 mph winds today...good day to work on booolets.

I swapped core seat punches today to illustrate how core punch size relates to bleed by. The top pic is with a core seater punch diameter .0004 (four ten thousandths) smaller than the bottom pic. The 'slurp' of lead is pretty pronounced with the smaller punch.

In the lower pic, the shiny appearance on the jacket i.d. right above the top of the core is just a reflection from the light....not the punch dragging in the jacket. ;)

I am simply loading it by hand. That is slow but it works fairly well for limited production. It beat setting up and drilling some kind of board. But, it is no good replacement of a set of bullet trays. I have a set of 6mm trays and they are nice.
Scrolling through the post and here's another option for trays.
I bought these off ebay for around $125.00 for 5 of them that will allow me to do 1000 bullets at a time each tray does 100.

They are pill machines used for making your own vitamins etc.
You can shake in about 3/4 of them and do the balance by hand it actually goes very quick

Actually each tray does 200 it comes with a piece that has 100 posts to tamp the ingredients in the pill

I use it to press the cores into the jackets and then flip it over and it holds the jackets with cores in a upright position to set on the punch easier.
You can see that in the last pic.

Paul, I leave the lube on until I get close to using them, then dunk 'em in acetone. I don't know if tumbling them would clean up the metplats or not.
Al it absolutely does clean up the meplat just don't over do it.
Wet tumble with Dawn and Lemishine and a bunch of white scotch bright pads cut into 1" squares.
I then coat with Danzak.
