Al has his donut thread going and this would not be proper in there, so.......
From the Fujinator skunk works, of Fly by Night Industries, This is the current
insanity going on. I'm going solid copper for my BR bullets. I just don't want to
give up my 7's, and always looking for another path to clear......I was on the
Hammer Bullets website nosing around and my eye caught one of the Hunter
bullets, so i ordered a sample, and one thing lead to another. i called Brian
and Steve, the owners and ask about doing a custom for me to test. They said
no problem, so out to the shop i went and created a new design, and sent a
sample for them to duplicate. Not long after, I had 17 pieces at my door for
approval. Slowest 12 twist in .284 is what I'm running on my new 7.2 cat. I did a
charge work up on the 17 with N-i35. At 41.4 grains, I was at 3518 fps and the
bolt was still limp. During the work up on the hotter end, and .020" off the lands.
i was in the twos, with one 3 shot group doing a .180". Barrel for these could use
a 15 twist.......I called Brian back up to get me 500 asap. It got here 4 days before
leaving for Orangeburg. I did use these basically untested for the fun shoot.
Other then a couple of major brain farts, no flags, and that crazy in your face
wind Thursday morning, I did pop a 1.333" group where others were well over
that......I'll play more with these after i order in the right twist for it. I believe I
could get these going in the 3600 fps area.
Initial 500 piece prototype numbers........ .903" long with a .060" meplat, and rebated
boat tail, weighing 92 grains. Room to make adjustments......Gotta kick that can !!
