Time for scale upgrade

Good Evening Gentlemen

Thank you to all for your thoughts, suggestions, and occasionally an opinion.

I have ordered a new scale for my bench that I believe will serve my stated needs and requirements. Time will let me know if I made the correct choice. Not going to say which one or what model. Took all of the supplied information into account , spun the wheel and made a SWAG decision.

Now next decision, what has to go somewhere else, I am sure none of you have that problem. :rolleyes:

For those headed back to the work place tomorrow make it a good day, :rolleyes: those of us fortunate enough to be retired will start the first day of our 6 Saturdays, followed by a Sunday.

I know I will receive flak about that.

Not looking to shot the fly stuff off of the pepper, not doing competition, just getting good start in ELR . What brand or model of digital scale will serve that purpose, for say $ 250.00/ $ 300.00 price range.

Take a serious look at the scale that Creedmoor Sports offers. Several folks I know who need to be budget minded, have it and they say it suites them just fine. The scale is strickly in grains, not grams so no conversion to grains through onboard calculation. "Higher end" lab scales can do this effectively.

If I not mistaken, should still be $100 deduction, on sale. I believe $250.

Went from 180’s at 600 FTR, to being mad about a 198-7x and wondering what was wrong with me(found out my seater had a loose nut)…rcbs10-10 to the fx-120i and AutoTrickler. I’m about mid-tier F-Open score in my group for our league.

All due respect, as I'm a retiree also, and I also have a Chief Financial Officer, but you say you're getting a start in ELR. That is a high precision event, as are most competitions, and precision comes at a price and I can't think of a time where that price came cheap. That said, I recently began using an Autotrickler V4 and FX-120i scale. It is amazing. And I no longer compete. I am not going to try to spend your money, others can do that, but do consider the event you wish to engage and re-evaluate the budget requirements.
 
Getting the powder weight consistent to within a single kernel in every load is as precise as the powder charge can get.

The tricky part is trusting that the weighing equipment is not lying to you.

I 'downgraded' mine, with full confidence that it is not lying to me. I weigh the initial required charge weight on a beam scale. 10-10 in my case. I drop slightly under from the measure, then trickle up on a Lee Safety Scale.

Dampened Safety Scale.

I'm confident that a weight on the 10-10 weighs the same in summer or winter, last year, this year or next. The Lee provides visible deflection for every additional kernel of powder.

My son found out about Spearpoint Ranch, last year. He had been searching for a place to stretch the legs out on his .338 Lapua. Since we have been there multiple times. After watching the competition shooting , while its great to watch and observe , he still wants to do ELR type shooting, but not competitively . He was successful last year at one mile. 36 X 36 steel target. We are going back again in June & July, again no competition, but looking at longer range targets. The competition guys and gals are shooting past two miles. My son is still working, not married, and his only dependent is a big ole English Mastiff, so my son spends the big money.

As I stated before so much is lost in communication here on the forum, and sometimes the incorrect conclusion, or decision is made. So many ways to come to a decision.
