Tikka

I am hoping that Sako introduces nice little hunting rifle which comes also in .222. With short action, metal magazine and so on. Something which Sako has always been good.
I think that new model is available soon, gun shops here in Finland are selling 85-series at half price.
I agree.

That said, it’s hard to find .223 Tikkas here. Most of what gets imported is 6.5cm or larger. I watched for a .222 for a year before I finally bought a .223 and had it rebarreled to .222.

It is same here. Gun shops usually have 6.5crm or 308 available immediately. If you want something different it usually takes 6-8 monthsmto get specific caliber and rifle from Sako.

Ah. The dealers here won’t order anything. I tried. They just wait to see what shows up on the boat, and that is ruining the range of calibers we can buy here. 204 Ruger is also now also obsolete for the same reason.

Well, that is not good to hear.
of course everything comes back to money. It is easy to sell 6.5Crm or other calibers which are "hot" at this moment.
I remember that time when it was possible to order almost everything from sako...for example Sako 75 SS in 22PPC with varmint stock and you could even choose if coming with or without magazine. My father bought 7,62*39 Stainless varmint without magazine, left handed. You just can't get anything like that from Sako anymore.

Edit: here is one example about those times

Indeed. I own a Sako AII with a mag well and two stage adjustable “target” trigger. I’ve never seen that trigger option outside of the AI 22ppc/6ppc/223 Rem single shots, but it definitely came from the factory that way.

To be fair, I didn’t call Beretta USA to see if they’d import one for me, and they would be the ones who could easily call it in. But I was talking to one of the biggest Tikka retailers in the US.

Sako/Tikka does a pretty darn good job making their barrels, probably the best of any factory barreled rifle out there. If it was a new gun and a twist you could live with why not just set it back and have it rechambered to the triple deuce?

That was my original intent. But it turned out to be a *very* ordinary shooter, and I didn't want to take the chance when my other option was a 12 twist Bartlein.

Yes, it' is all stainless, then cerakoted, bolt comes fluted, 2 stage trigger ect.

Where are you getting that they are a stainless? On their website, it does say the super varmint is "Tungsten Cerakote", but all of their stainless rifles have in their description stainless or "Sako’s high-grade stainless steel" which the super varmint shows no where.

Seems they would be announcing that everywhere but they are not.

That specific model is Stainless steel with cerakote. Not sure about international website but on finnish version and on all resellers it is informed that it is SS with cerakote coating. It is same as in some other Tikka models or S20 cerakote models.

Yes I have seen that too, i just think it was a mistake on a distributors info that everyone then copied. Still without documentation from tikka, i don;t believe it, happy to be proven wrong though. It is not on their site, and for most o tikka's models they have a stainless version for which they charge more for. Still no evidence for it being stainless

I think that you able to find pictures proving that it is stainless. I think that british site stalkingdirectoryuk was one where was few pictures about. There was a user who was not satisfied with cerakote coating quality and he had some pictures about it. Those picture did show that it Ss

But nothing on their website? And there is a "varmint stainless" so why nothing on this one? I'll try and find that thread, but most people won't be able to tell a difference between stainless and in the white alloy

I just checked site of biggest finnish sako dealer and there stands "stainless metal parts with cerakote coating" unfortunately it is finnish only. But I do believe finnish site just because here in finland dealers do get direct information from Sako and if there is a mistake Sako will correct it.

"Ruostumattomat raudat harmaalla Cerakote pinnoitteella" is translated:
stainless metal parts with grey cerakote coating"

https://www.sissos.fi/metsastys/tikka-t3x-super-varmint-308-win/p/TFTT2952A73C964/

And I found these that actually say super varmint stainless, but it doesn't have the green stock.

This one has the green stock and has it in the actual paragraph description not just the list:

Found a thread on sniperhides from 2021 asking the same question with nothing concrete either

Just got off the phone with Josh at Eurooptics, He confirmed with Tikka that the Super Varmint
is a stainless steel barrel action.

Which is just confirming that all the distributors are saying so but Tikka isn't. And neither is Josh's employer eurooptic at their website: https://www.eurooptic.com/Tikka-T3x...m-R8-PIC-SS-20-MT-6rd-Rifle-JRTXRSV312R8.aspx
Well It doesn't say that it's not stainless steel, the standard Varmint model description states weather it's a blue steel barrel and receiver or a stainless, I'm thinking because the Super has a cerakot finish, that's all that's mentioned, the finish, I guess if this continues to be a real concern, a call to Tikka might be the thing to do.

Went to the range Thursday for the first time with my newly purchased S.V. in the 6.5 creedmoor, bought a box of federal premium 140gr just to try out, was very pleased with a very tiny clover leaf group, couldn't be happier

Mine is the same, 6.5 PRC, they are pretty amazing for factory rifles but that’s what Tikka does.

No, it is T3 without X.
unfortunately it seems that new model is not available in .222. Closest is .223
I am planning to purchase that new model in .223 or other option is that I wait that new Sako rifle which replaces 85-series. It is not that Sako100 which has been introduced already, there is coming something else.
Juppe12, you got my attention with that. What information do you have that Sako has a new rifle coming out replacing the 85? I had thought that the 100 was about it for Sako for a while.
