Tikka super varmint 223

I hit the lands at 1.926 BTO or 2.326 OAL with the smk 77s. Way too long for the factory mag. With the 69 & 77 smk I load them 3 thou off. I’ve seated them touching down to 2.255. While the Sierras didnt mind the jump, my SDs improved closer to the lands. Now the 55 Blitzking and Gamekings I’m at 2.260 OAL. Couldn’t load those long if I wanted to, but the 2 most accurate loads so far.
I’m not exactly sure what DLT is saying. Changing your bolt stop will not allow you to load a longer round in the magazine. Maybe the 260 will take another mag from Tikka that allows you to load long, thereby needing a new boltstop? The Tikka mags are fine but they feel a little cheap. Aftermarket mags are few and far between. The few that I have seen (can’t remember their names, one was in Australia) were more than I was willing to spend. Loading length has been a common complaint with the factory 223 mag. So it’s spend $160 for an aftermarket mag or $20 on a bobsled and single feed.
Yes. They make long and short action magazines. As well as long and short action bolt stops. It’s been a couple years since I sold the rifle to my uncle but I changed the mag and the bolt stop and had miles of extra length in the magazine. Hopefully someone can clear up any confusion I started. The short action magazines have a spacer block in the back for the case head while the long action mags do not. I had to change the bolt stop to allow the bolt to pull back far enough to pick up a round. If I can find pix later I will post

It might be different for a 223 rem case size. The 22/250 and 260 was the same

Yep, that’s what I figured you were doing DLT. I just wonder if a 223 case would work in a long action magazine. I would assume the feed lips would be to wide to hold the round in.

I’m new to the tikka so I don’t understand everything so sorry if I say something stupid

Somebody on here knows just maybe they will chime in. You might be fine with how it comes be best case scenario.

Just picked the super varmint today I’m impressed with it it’s built well & smooth action and actually I like the factory trigger still got to put a scope on it yet and get some 233 loaded so I can shoot it .

That’s all you got to do is back the screw out right guys ??
That’s what I did on my nieces T3x. It’s been a while but on that one you just did it through the mag well with a Allen wrench. It will only back out so far and it will stop against something, that is your lowest setting. There should be some instructions in your manual or online for your particular model. I think on a CTR model you have to drop the stock to do it, so I’m not sure on yours.

ya looks like take stock off back screw off until it hits the bolt that holds trigger assembly in place and that as light as it gets
