When I first responded to this question I thought I needed it for the bullets I was using, Hornady 75 gr. 223 bullets in my AR15. But I have been using Sierra 77 gr. and 69 gr. bullets and I have much less copper fouling. I don't know if my barrel is smoother now or the Hornady bullets have softer jackets. But now I have not had a problem with copper fouling, just use CR10 in a couple of patches and it's gone. The barrel is a chrome lined DD 18" barrel that has always looked smooth with no deep scratches. I also don't let the barrel get hot. The AR rifles are the only ones I have needed an abrasive.
