Thoughts on the 6x45

Super fun, mild muzzle blast, no recoil and performs far better than such a tiny 6mm should. Probably the easiest to form wildcat. 1 pass through an expander and load. Unlimited supply of brass. There’s nothing to not like about it, just don’t try and make it into a 6BR the primer pockets won’t make it.

Super easy to size the brass, great accuracy potential and like stated it really does punch outside of its weight class. Are you thinking about a bolt action, single shot or autoloader? I have an ar15 chambered in it but would love to assemble a bolt action rifle in 6x45 some day. In an ar15 you will be limited by mag length for your cartridge OAL so the heavier 85gr and up bullets may not have the velocities one would prefer but my 87gr bthp hornady reloads are very accurate and velocity isnt bad. You can get stainless steel ASC 5rd mags that allow OAL to 2.3" if I remember right. Havent loaded for mine in a long time.

I have one and getting ready to build another. They work well on a Savage action. Bullets weighing in the neighborhood of 80 grs or very good and works best with 8 twist barrels or better, like 7 twist, more fun than a 6 ARC.

I just built one. I have only had time to take it to the range once last weekend. I like it so far. Still need to do some load development. Wind was too bad last weekend to get good data. I would have to say real light recoil. I have several powders to try. It took me 2 years to decide if i wanted it or not. So far yes i would do it again.

I have an AR in 6x45 and a bolt build ongoing on a 700 action. High hopes for this one.

The AR shoots great.

I have an AR chambered in 6X45. I was able to score 500 of the now discontinued Sierra 80 grain Single Shot Pistol bullets and they work great out of that gun. Coyotes and deer have both fallen to that gun.

I built one on a Sako A! sporter that I wasn't using. Now it is my favorite white tail rifle : 8 twist #3 contour Brux, about .050 freebore, shoots 80 - 90 gr bullets really well at mag lgth using H335. Try it, you'll like it.

I've got a Remington 783 in .223 and I've been meditating on swapping the barrel for something more interesting. This or either a 6XC would be a barrel of fun, but I could do the 6x45 with no bolt swap. It could get me real close to 3K with an 80gr for use on southern white tails. And probably work good suppressed.

The 95 Partition at 2650 will give you pass throughs on heart lung shots with a 6x45 and just smokes em’!

I put 9000 rounds through mine and it still held .8moa at 100y
There was no fuss with any reloading techniques as it was a work rifle culling kangaroos the main pill first up was the 70 grain Ballistic Tip then when the 65 grain Vmax came out about 6000 of those went through would I build another probably just for the nostalgia but now that I have one in 8 twist 1:8 223 don't see the point they shoot flatter hit harder they just don't get the barrel life .

I built a 20P on my 783 action, and very accurate rifle. I built a 6x45 on a Ruger RAR action, very accurate with the Preferred Barrel 10T, got lucky in the load I settled on is mag length with 70g TNT's.

I had the 6-223/6x45/6TCU for years in a pistol platform. Had a 6-223 TC carbine for a while. An extra XP100 action we put a 6TCU rifle together, 1-8” twist. Runs 55-80’s great with AA2200 and H335 being my favorite powders. This project was done the year before the 6ARC came out. Performance is so similar I would have went with the ARC just because it wasn’t another wildcat.

I've had one on a Rem 600 for about 30 yrs it reminds me of a 222 Rem as it is hard to find a load that doesn't shoot well. I built it for coyote hunting and found that it is pretty heavy handed if you want to save pelts.

Well finally got to shoot my 6x45 i put together. Here is one okay load. I have a few others looking promising with 68gr bergers and N133 powder. Im going to try and find a load with the 58vmax and w748 since i have more of those two right now. I think a different scope is first. Real hard staying steady on paper with a 3x9 scope at 100 yards.

If anyone is interested, there is great setup chambered in 6X45 Imp (6TCU) for sale in the Rokslide Forum classifieds. It is not mine, but it is priced better than what it would cost to build one.
