Hardly a waist of time for those interested in taking their program to the next level , takes me about fifteen minutes to sort a sleeve, as @ mulligan points out, he’s seen 25 fps variation which is considerable difference in point of bullet impact on a long range target. To sort the weight of primers, might be the biggest waste of time in accurate reloading.
I see the same distributions when I sort. Everyone can determine for themselves if it matters.I just did a study of 952 CCI 450 primers. I weighed in grains on an A&D FX120i scale. I was amazed at how "normally" distributed they were. Now the real question is - does it matter?

Theres a thread I havent seen much on yetJust think,if you use CCI BR primers you can index them using the little B !
Depends on one's level of reloading and skills at the bench. Then there is the question of "does primer seating depth make a difference"?
Why do you find. this surprising?I just did a study of 952 CCI 450 primers. I weighed in grains on an A&D FX120i scale. I was amazed at how "normally" distributed they were. Now the real question is - does it matter?

Interesting, I could be talked into weighing primers if it makes as much a difference as a noturn vs a tight neck……. I’m betting at long range that vertical is the difference. how far?I see the same distributions when I sort. Everyone can determine for themselves if it matters.
I weight sort primers. I seat them by feel. I do not clean primer pockets or uniform them anymore. I sort bullets. I run no-turn necks. All determined by testing over long periods of time; not because someone told me I have to but because I proved it to myself A-B testing with season-long aggs.
Because most things I check in this sport have significant "outliers" on one end or both. Why do you find. this surprising?
yep,Because most things I check in this sport have significant "outliers" on one end or both.
Would some of you " R S G s" . Real smart guys please help out an old dude with post # 6 that I made an edit on. As I stated another unexplored rabbit hole. & additionaly won't end up in a nest of snakes.yep,
back when I was recovering from a surgery, I had time to sort a case of primers over a few days time.
When you sort a box of 5000, you get a feel for what the ragged edges actually look like.

Thank you Sir.I sort in .001 grams for 600 and 1K compensation and I don’t think that hi/lo weight matters as long as you shoot the same weight primers and eliminate the outliers
