Wayne, I hope you didn't pay Bruno's new price of $59.95 per 1k for 50,000 primers just to get free shipping. :) Because there are lots better deals out there.

Bill,
Of course not!! do you remember where I work? I have a steady supply steadily coming in, it's a wonder I even have enough check left to pay rent?......wait I own never mind I'll take two more bricks LOL!!!!
Wayne.

Spare a thought for us poor Aussie's.
Primers are all imported and cost $50 to $90 (for BR's) at any time. At this time they are almost impossible to find, and feedback from the industry here is that we will see no more in 2013.
Can't buy Bergers and none expected in 2013.
As for Varget, H4350, H4831SC etc, its actually made here in Oz, but here's the rub, we pay almost double the USA price, and heck, we make it! and the Aussi Dollar currently buys $104 US.
However, powder has been in short supply because our state hazardous goods regulations have men't that it cannot be transported into our state from the factory over the border!!!!
As for "gun laws", well!!!!

A friend of mine was at Brunos today and they don't even have any Federal primers in stock. He was talking to Victor and he said he was worried $hitless that all the supplies he has on order will come in and he won't be able to sell them. I won't buy them at his inflated prices. >:(

He will be able to sell every last primer - if he prices them right.

These guys are playing the commodity futures game.I hope they get stuck with everything to force them to get back to reality.Places like brunos will never see me spend one penny as these gouging dealers are despicable. If a mom pop store can maintain the price, why cant he.I find what these types of dealers are doing is repugnant and they can go out of business for all I care now.I am so sorry that we the shooters of this once fine country constantly panic over any legislative efforts. Most fail anyways, that is proposed legislation. Just buy what you need and alittle more instead of buying 25000 primers at one whack, this equals approximatly 12 and one half barrels of shooting time which equals approx 7500.00 dollars worth of barrels and install prices. You get the picture. 8#'s of powder in a 6br at 30.0 grains equals 1866 rounds of ammo. That is a whole barrel.I have so much stuff I am fine except 6.5 bullets and a few other oddball things.Let us spread the word to stop hoarding into the next life so the guys with less than nothing can catch up,give them a chance.I really didnt want to answer this in depth but couldnt resist temptation.

Bruno's is a Mom & Pop operation. The whole family works there. I doubt Lester is gouging. More likely is that they had to pay more to get anything.

Believe what you intend to believe,it used to be a free country last time I checked. Anyone can price anything to make a few extra bucks,he maybe or not,but I will bet that alot of folks are trying to capitilize off the shortage.Nobody seems to be shy about doing it.Look at used brass prices from joe nobody,he raises his prices because he knows it will get sold.It is clear capitilism and most will do it no matter who they are.

Jon,
You are my friend and I usually always agree with you but you have me totally stumped on this one?.....This country was built on capitalism and let the little guy catch up?......anybody that didn't see this coming had there head in the sand, it really never stopped from the 09 scare, companies just finally caught up when 12 came along the the school shooting put it all way over the top again! I have been hoarding for years, I have bought over 100000 primers in the last couple months, I am not panic buying, I buy when I find a buy and the little guy as you call it (ME) has seen this coming why didn't the rest of you? was that new atv more important? was that new car to keep up with the Jones more important? did you really need to take the whole family out to a movie and a dinner for $200 or could you have just as easy spent $4 on a rental movie and to boxes of digornoes for another $12 and spent the other $184 on primers :-\ I say buy buy buy when the opportunity presents itself but never cry when you sluffed your duties and squandered your money on senseless things,.,...JMHO on the subject.
Sincerely,.... Wayne.

Wow. That IS a lot.

Did you find the Tula/Wolf primers on sale? I so should have bought those at the last big gun show before the panic. I was in mid test, and wasn't sure yet...

Bradley,
No I don't own many of the wolf/Tula Primer's I buy mostly cci/federal primers however I do have a lot of Winchester and Remington primers that I have bought at shows, I got a really good deal on some older but had been stored properly RWS primers so I bought a lot of them, for my competition rifles I use mostly 400/450 cci primers and some 205 M primers and I have enough of those for a very long time.
Wayne.

looking online at a few sources and Brunos is the only one I see that the prices on primers are about $20+ more than usual. Even their powder prices appear high, but not sure what they were charging a few months back for components.

I will stick to PVI, who's owner said he will not increase prices unless he has to pay more to get them.

Where? Frank

PS: This is the latest from Powder Valley

Orders placed today for in stock items will ship approximately March 7.
We are currently processing orders placed on Jan 17!
You will receive an invoice when your order is processed and
tracking information when the order ships.

BACKORDERS: (Effective 01/29/13 at 8 AM ET)
Due to the overwhelming number of orders and the extreme supply shortages we are temporarily discontinuing our policy of accepting backorders. Over the past two months we have done everything we can to keep up with the orders including hiring several new employees and working 7 days a week. However, recently we have come to the realization that we simply can not continue to take orders for items that we have no idea when will be available, nor can we expect customers to continue to wait 4-6 weeks for us to process their in stock orders. Orders that are placed for items listed as "Out of Stock" on the website will be immediately canceled. All customers who have backorders in our system currently will not be affected and these orders will be processed as soon as the items come available. We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Well, Frank, let me put it another way. If you are buying 50,000 primers, odds are you aren't going to shoot them all next week or even next month. So it would make sense to pay a premium (if you MUST have some now) for 1000 and order 49,000 to be delivered a month from now.

Getting out of control

Bruno's has posted that now you have to order a minimum of 3000 primers due to shipping costs and hazmat fee. Neither of which have increased??!!!! Great way to try to make people pay that much more for components since their prices on primers are already slightly more than double than before all the mess happened.

WOW >:(
