This Memorial Day

We all have different ways we honor those that sacrificed so much for us. I spend the day doing two things....first, I think a lot about those guys that, because of their actions, never got the chance to do all of the things so many of us enjoy. Second, I try to spend as much of the day as I can doing something fun, because I wouldn't want any of those guys to think what they did was in vain. Being here today and living in the country we do with the freedoms we enjoy, freedoms that were paid for by all those past and present is not something I will ever take lightly or forget. Now I am going to go shoot some woodchucks, then go fishing. Maybe drink some single malt and smoke a smuggled Cuban cigar!!!!! Thanks guys for this gift!!!!

In Flanders Fields

John McCrae, 1872 - 1918
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead; short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe!
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high!
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

May God Bless all our Servicemen and Women past ,present and future till the end of our mortal time. I have nothing but admiration for our Military and always will. Special shout out to Doc.

I am pleased that so many members have taken the time to honor our brave heroes, both men and women of all our Armed Forces (over time) who have protected our freedom in so many ways. For me, I honor them each and everyday day as I fly the flag of our country in front of our home 24 hrs a day in remembrance and honor of them. And I do this, in part, to honor my son-in-law as well who continues to serve our country, even this day as he has for the past 17 yrs in several capacities, including five combat tours of Iraq and Afghanistan, as have many of the folks on this blog (in various "conflicts" over time) and nationwide. God Bless them all (past and present) as well as their families who serve us all as well.

IMG_1173.JPG To my fallen brothers, and the 9 other heroes with us that fateful morning, I am proud to wear the same uniform as you, and to have served by your side. I will never forget you and the sacrafices that you made.
